Dude lets team up ! i love this idea man! i can try and make an open free-side patch etc! maybe open strip and wasteland uncut? etc. i would be happy to do NPC's dialog, interiors, and even sound design.
i love your mesh style and would love to get on a team with you to make some stuff! i cant play nv without your mod at this point haha. the graphic novel was so sick man!
@brandoedded: Adding interiors is not my plans for the moment, since I have other projects in mind. But I know other fellow modders are working in interiors for their own projects using these casinos, so stay tuned in the site for their release.
Nope, they are two different mods. FLV-JOD was created to change the look of Freeside by adding new buildings and resources, and the intention was that the users could play the game with an embellished Freeside. All Roads Comic Strip was created as a Modders Resource, with the idea that the new buildings were used by other modders for their own projects: the buildings were just put in Freeside to showcase them.
I once talked about that to Moburma, the author of a lot of very popular cut-content restoring mods hosted here in Nexus. He digged really deep into the games core files and discovered/deduced a lot about the original plans for Freeside/The Strip. I asked if could it be possible that the All Roads Comic Resorts were intended to be part of the game. He told me he was 99% sure that stuff was just artistic licence by the comic artists, and that he didn’t think any of that was meant to be in the game nor is it canon, hence the generic names (“Dice casino”, "Pig").
Considering some of Freeside and the Strip Buildings/areas are based on a real life counterpart (SIlver Rush instead of the Golden Rush/ Lucky 38 instead of Landmark Hotel and Casino, The Ultraluxe instead of Caesars Palace, Freeside instead of Freemont Street), I fully agree with him on that. The artists that illustrated All Roads Comic don't seem to have followed Obsidian trend of parody/imitate real life situations.
I agree with the idea of pushing canon where the 9-month development cycle of the game prevented that kind of fleshing out. My only thought here is that the comic book format is , by tradition, rather more bright, colorful and saturated than real life. It's a tough call whether a direct representation of that in Freeside is a good match.
@Bottletopman, I agree, I was talking about the buildings too.
@Asterra: You're right, these resorts would be more fitting inside the strip, considering the atmosphere Freeside is supposed to have. Thing is this mod was planned to be a modders resource. I only put the Resorts in Freeside South to show case the models, so both modders and no modders can get to see how they look in the game. Making them fit the way they look in the comic strip in the reduced/completely different space of the strip would have required more time, and since the only purpose was to show them they were located in Freeside South . However, I'll probably make a version to make them fit there.
"The comics is canon" Except for the horse, in which both Bethesda and Black Isle agrees that horse is extinct, and Chris Avellone acknowledge its continuity error.
