Can confirm that this still works for modern kNVSE sets. The concepts are the same, if you want to mod a model from one kNVSE set to another for example.
I hardly know what to say. I guess this guide is over a year old already, I don't really know how often people are searching for these things now. But basically, I've spent almost a month modding New Vegas and just this last week and a half alone was largely spent pulling my hair out and trying to make some very unruly mods function alongside each other. Totally honest, I happened to stumble across this entirely by accident, in an ironic twist. But -- to repeat myself -- holy crap.
I really cannot picture this being explained or broken down any better than you did. Like you said yourself in conclusion, the whole process is VERY unclear and confusing at first. But I'm walking out of this with the solution to a problem that was gnawing at me relentlessly, AND with a solid understanding of when, how, why, to use Nifskope. Perhaps not the end goal of the guide originally, but it was very well illustrated, in my opinion.
So, Benja, assuming you're actually going to read this, I just wanted to tell you how truly thankful I am for this. I felt that was especially important seeing as this is clearly something you put together entirely by yourself, on your own time, for free. Your guide gave me the tools to see this project through, and I'm really eager to share that with the rest of the community.
I plan on releasing a set of revolver patches sometime this week (hopefully), and then I won't be able to post anything until June. I'll be out of town until then. I make patches pretty quickly, so I'll be working on getting as many requests filled as I can when I get back.

Cheers, and Happy Modding.
