If anyone ever reads this, I do plan to make a big expansion of this mod, but it won't happen anytime soon.
Changes will include: 1. Replacing weapon/armor models with classics when necessary. I wanted to use other people's mods for this, but ultimately decided to make my own models, since asking permissions is a pain, especially when the mod author is long gone from Nexus, and a lot of classic models available here don't reach the quality standard I'm striving for. 2. Removing as much references to Bethesda's Fallout 3 as I can. Again, when necessary. This mod will assume that Bethesda's Fallout 3 never existed. For example, one extra voiced NPC could share a rumor about Harold, since he won't become a tree here. 3. Minor gameplay changes will have to be made. I.e., FO1/2's Hunting Rifle will replace the Varmint Rifle as a low-tier 5.56 rifle, but the latter will remain as a .22 starting rifle, as originally intended by Obsidian.
How do I stop the loading screens from lagging the hell out of the game? Everytime I load, it takes forever for the screen to pop up, and the little roulette spinner just jumps around rather than cleanly spinning.
Funny and ironically, I will be using this in my Tale of Two Wastelands game.
I don't hate Fallout 3, the game is a masterpiece, but I am trying to seamlessly integrate the entirety of that game to Fallout New Vegas, as if it was supposed to be the same game all along! I absolutely LOVE the Fallout 3 New Vegas logo, since it's literally what I'm doing.
My headcanon is that the Lone Wanderer IS the Courier. The Courier has a blank slate as a background anyways. It's my way of explaining how they have a silver tongue and military training all of a sudden: their background is just Bethesda's Fallout 3.
Fallout 3 a masterpiece XD Good joke, lets pretend the main story doesn't exist, oh and the mediocre side content, the bad shooting, poor weapon variety, the meaningless companions and the...
Let's be fair here, FNV is not Fallout 3... That title belongs to Van Buren, if you squint hard enough and rewrite some of the design documents then they can canonically fit together.
It's my head-canon that Van Buren happened and the Bethesda games didn't. I hate what they did to Harold, I wonder what he'd be doing in New Vegas if he hadn't turned into a tree.
For those who don't know: Van Buren was the original Fallout 3 which was cancelled after Interplay went bankrupt.
I adore the new logo so much that it's the primary reason I wanted to leave a comment. This is the real Fallout 3, made by the real Fallout developers, being a real ROLEplaying game where "be who you want to be" doesn't just mean "make a name and face" (I'm glaring at you, Todd Howard).
The new loading screens and intro video feel right at home in the (true) Fallout trilogy. It all feels so nostalgic, but in a way that still keeps that modern New Vegas charm. The only thing I could possibly think to "improve" upon it is maybe making the background on the 3 look like a poker chip (maybe like the Platinum Chip?). You did a great job!
Really great stuff! The edited intro honestly just feels really good, and doesn't actually seem like something that would be far off from what interplay would do.
