About this mod

This is a katana. It's got your back. It can cut all of your enemies in half with one sword stroke, just like mowing the lawn. I would advise not getting killed by it. This sword traps the souls of its victims.

DESCRIPTION
This mod adds a custom katana to the game, complete with a pretentious Japanese name, that steals hit-points from enemies with each hit and gives them to the player, restoring health.

The sword does a base damage of 10 (less than half the base damage of the unmodded GRA katana) but does an additional amount of bonus damage based on the player's melee weapons skill, which restores the player's hit-points by that same amount. The bonus will differ depending on the creature type you are attacking (i.e. The weapon has no leeching effect against Robots, since they aren't alive and therefore have no health to steal). Low-Agility Couriers also have a greater chance to damage the weapon with their lack of finesse.

The mod requires the Gun Runners' Arsenal DLC, but uses no custom meshes, textures or sounds and should therefore be compatible with just about everything.

LOCATION
Spoiler:
Show
The weapon can be found in a custom-built basement cell in Boulder City.

Of course, if you're feeling lazy, you can always use the following console command (Substitute ## with the number of the mod in your load order):

player.AddItem ##000ADE 1

INSTALLATION
Extract all the files in the archive to your New Vegas data folder (which is the same folder where FalloutNV.esm is located) and then enable the ESP either in your mod manager of choice, or under "Data Files" in the launcher that runs when you start up New Vegas.

THE MATH
Spoiler:
Show
If your Melee Weapons skill is 75 or below, the leech bonus is a flat 10 (i.e. with each hit, you damage your target for 10 hit-points of base damage + 10 leech bonus, for a total of 20 hit-points damage, and replenish your own health by 10 hit-points). For every level of your Melee Weapons skill above 75, the leech bonus increases by 1. This means that at Melee Weapons 100, you will do 10 base damage + 10 leech bonus + 25 Melee Weapons skill bonus, for a total of 45 hit-points of damage, while replenishing 35 hit-points of health.

Insects only give 25% bonus, animals 50%, Supermutants, Ghouls and abominations 75%, and humans 100%. The sword has no leeching effect at all against robots, since they aren't living creatures and would therefore have no health to steal.

If your Agility is less than 7, the game rolls a random percentage with each swing. If that percentage is less than 25%, the sword will lose 1% of its weapon condition.
