NVATA (New Vegas Aid Tweaks and Additions):

This mod started out as an extension of my Simple Wasteland Bandages mod and evolved into a painstakingly tedious reworking of every single item in the aid category. The base stats of almost all items have been changed in some way, so I will not be listing every single minor change here, but some things you can expect from this mod are:

  • Rebalancing the cost, weight, and stats of almost all food items to create a greater disparity between the quality levels of food ingame. For example, food healing has been removed from all but cooked foods and their healing factor has been drastically lowered. Uncooked meats now only restore half the starvation level of their cooked variants. You now have an ingame reason to actually cook your food.
  • Radiation levels of all consumables has been greatly increased, in most instances by approximately 2x the vanilla levels. No more hoarding loads of next-to-useless RadAway!
  • Adds several new lore friendly(ish) aid items (currently 8) that are all distributed throughout appropriate leveled lists and most of which are craftable from any Campfire/Cooking station. This feature includes my bandage mod.
  • Irradiated food has been added to the generic foods leveled list in order to make clean foods more valuable and increase the variety and hopefully the challenge factor of your Hardcore Mode experience.
  • Adds weight to all previously weightless aid items such as Chems, Stimpaks, and Magazines.
  • Tweaks Chem effects to make most of them slightly stronger but also create more of a difference between the various tiers of Chems. Also makes them worth a tiny bit more caps in most cases.
  • Out of the box, NVATA will be incompatible with any other mod that alters stats of consumables. However, I myself play with schlangster's Project Nevada and LFox and HornedReaperMJL's Bottle that Water, so I have created compatibility patches for those mods. Note that the food healing removal from this mod will override PN's food health feature. Load the original mod before BtW and the patch after BtW.

Overall, this mod tweaks all the aid items in the game to give a more balanced, realistic, and challenging feel to the food, chems, and meds in the game. You will need to manage your inventory a bit more but it should make speccing into Survival a bit more useful and rewarding. I created this plugin with Hardcore Mode in mind, and many changes in it apply to Hardcore Mode-only aspects, but it should in theory work fine without Hardcore Mode on.

Currently Added Consumables:
  • Blastoff- A chem created by combining Rocket and Turbo. It has the effects of both but slightly stronger in exchange for a much higher chance of addiction.
  • Broc Flower Beer- Combine water, Broc Flowers, and Yeast to brew a beer that doesn't damage intelligence, dehydrates slightly less, and restores a small amount of health as Broc Flowers have this innate effect.
  • Coyote Wintergreen Tobacco Chew- Just a variant of Coyote Tobacco Chew that switches plus one to agility to a small direct boost to Action Points.
  • Herb- "It's not a chem man, it's medicine." Increases max health and Charisma a bit for one minute and also makes you really hungry and slightly dehydrates you.
  • NoRAD- A brilliant scientist can create a concoction of Rad-X and RadAway that grants an incredibly high boost to Rad Resistance and removes 1 Rad a second for 4 minutes. However, it weakens you by decreasing your Carry Weight and maximum Action Points.
  • Wasteland Bandage- A makeshift bandage that restores 2 health a second over 90 seconds.
  • Wasteland Chili- A boiling slop that increases your explosives skill, restores some health and hunger, but also slightly dehydrates you (so do the vanilla Jalapeno Peppers) and has mild radiation.
  • X-Luck- A pill that greatly increases your Luck at the cost of also greatly dehydrating you.

Future plans:
  • I will continue to tweak this mod as I play with it more and also as you brilliant people make suggestions I could never think of without the internet.
  • I will create compatability patches for other mods if people want me to.

ENJOY!
