About this mod

My configured .ini file for New Vegas Stutter Remover to get rid of CTDs and various in-game problems.

Permissions and credits
This is MY configured INI settings file for NVSR on my Win10 64bit PC. NVSR normally has some big issues with running on Windows 10, but I managed to configure the INI to stabilise it and still get the performance benefits without actually needing to disable most of the features. Like I said, this is MY ini configuration and is just meant as a basis for tweaking. Don't expect this to work 100% for any system. Download and install NVSR and overwrite sr_New_Vegas_Stutter_Remover.ini  with this file.

Some things you may want to tweak (for those inexperienced with NVSR).

- iHeapSize
I recommend either 450 or 512 if you have the 4gb patch enabled. If are using the unpatched .exe, then 250 might be a better number.

- bInject_iFPSClamp
This is where most (or all) of the micro-stuttering can be removed. This usually fixes it for most, but you might come into problems with slow-downs. If you get the 'long fingers' or 'big hands' bug, those are normally caused by the FPSClamp. It's a lot better than micro-stuttering and only happens in third-person. Try it on and off, to see which is better for you.

Edit: Actually, I'm an idiot and the real microstutter fix is bReplaceGetTickCount which sets the game to run at 60Hz instead of 64Hz. Check the sticky post for an alternative, standalone plugin to fix that if your game's microstutter persists.

In the same 'FPS_Management' section, you might want to try setting fMaximumFPS to 0 if you get major slowdowns in script-heavy instances. 60 is better if you have V-Sync enabled. If you still get major slowdowns, then disable bInject_iFPSClamp altogether.

Hopefully, this will provide a better basis for tweaking the NVSR ini file. As I've said, this isn't a sure-fire fix for NVSR. You will need to tweak it if you still get some issues with it. Good luck! ;-)

Addition: It was brought to my attention that the PC and Load Order I used for this might be worth noting.

- i5-2500 (non-K)
- 8GB DDR3-1333
- GTX 1050 Factory OC

- Load Order
YUP - Base Game + All DLC.esm
Unofficial Patch Plus.esp
YUP - NPC Fixes (Base Game + All DLC).esp

As you can see, this is nothing more than a fully patched, otherwise vanilla install of the game. I have used this ini with a heavily-modded install previously, but that was a while ago.

Update: I've included a version with bReplaceHeap turned off and using NVSE's own Heap Replacement instead. Both version's work fine, but NVSE is generally considered to be the better alternative. If you notice some lag and stutter after you installed some large texture replacement mods (like NMC's Texture Pack), this may help.

30/11/18: Changed DefaultHeapInitialAllocMB in NVSE heap replacement version from 512 to 496 which is often considered to be a better value to use. Also included a newer alternative sr_New-Vegas_Stutter_Remover.ini file in the Optional Files section that you can try if the other .ini file found the Main Files doesn't work. *Note* You will need to make sure that you have bReplaceHeap set accordingly whether or not you are using NVSE's heap replacement. I recommend leaving bReplaceHeap to "0" and using NVSE's heap replacement.
