Any chance of a version with a different aspect ratio? They don't stretch as it so so on my screen it looks like this..

I like this, I'd almost replace vanilla with it. On the plus side, you got the curvature of the CRT-style screen looking more apparent, which is a failing of the vanilla version (always bugged me). However, the original screen also had static/dirt that gave the pause screen texture and that's missing here. That's the main reason I'd stick with vanilla. The problem is is that it now looks too... "clean." It's hard to explain but that somehow makes the appearance look too modern, too stylish. Almost like a flat interface rather than a clunky old PLATO monitor. It's a subtle touch in vanilla but I actually think it adds a lot.

I just wanted to add my feedback because this is so close to being better than vanilla without completely changing the aesthetic. Things that uplift NV without murdering its aesthetic in cold blood (since FO3/NV actually had some pretty damned great aesthetics designers, fair play) makes my brain happy.

Of course, this might be out of scope for your mod and you may simply prefer the clean version, which is fine! I bring it up in case it's a blind spot you had, because I've had that.

Edit: No, going to use this anyway. The static/dirt presence is almost there enough. That it looks just a bit too smooth is not reason enough to not opt for this over vanilla. This is in. I like it.

One of the best textures on nexus for sure! Thank you!

Probably going to sound crazy but I thought it was going to look a little too clean, but it's just about perfect. If I had one request, I would ask that the spots not be mirrored. Other than that, it's truly flawless. If you ever get round to making a version like that, great. If not, still great.

By default the background works by mirroring the texture, probably to conserve memory and make the screen quicker to load when you press ESC (otherwise there might be a ~1 second delay). I had a considered making this grittier than it currently is, but the mirror effect ended up being much more obvious, since it was easier to perceive the symmetry.

I might try to look into how something like an XML file might be forcing the texture to be mirrored. If I can figure out a way to disable this then perhaps I'll make a non-mirrored version (which would use more memory and might, on lower end systems, create a ~1 second delay when hitting ESC).

Of course. I should have known that. I can't believe that didn't occur to me immediately. Thanks for the detailed response and a great new pause screen. If you do ever work out how to get it unmirrored, I'll give it a go with that version and see about that delay. Thanks a million.

I was actually going to come here to make exactly this request. Make it less obviously mirrored. I assumed that since the image as a whole isn't mirror, that was that. But I guess this means this issue is unavoidable?

Well, something must control the mirroring. I actually just removed the pause texture entirely at some point, but it's either in the XML or maybe a NIF somewhere. I never checked as I stopped using a texture.

Love it, one question will this work with FO3?

I'm not sure, I don't have FO3. But if the file structure is the same then it could probably work.

Good I've just added a recommendation to it at the FO3 VUI+ description myself (it's already recommended at the NV version).

I never thought I would see a pause menu on the number one spot of the hot files
