Any reason you're using buildref to do each magazine, rather than using GetLoadedTypeArray to get ingestibles and walking through and doing IsSkillMagazine? Compatible without changing the script.
Also, instead of buildref you could use https://geck.foesmm.org/index.php/GetFormFromMod -- this uses the hex ID from FNVedit so you don't have to convert each to decimal.
Didn't know about IsSkillMagazine, that's pretty neat. That will make things much more future-proof, and compatibility with magazines that don't use the retention perk could still be added with buildref (or GetFormFromMod from now on, because that seems much easier!)
I'll definitely work these into an update soon, thank you!
Yikes has it been that long Truth is I didn't see it as much of a priority, with not that many magazine mods around. Although I was thinking of revisiting this mod anyway, to see what could be added/improved on, so maybe Soon(TM)!
Lol no. How about y'all give me a concrete reason to make an update instead of bumping this thread just to call me out on my laziness xD Did a mod with skill magazines come out or something?
The "oh gosh this is better" chain ended in a mod requiring ySI Sorting Icons which not everyone would do, making this a natural alternative. There's your concrete reason :D
Can this be applied to stuff like weapon and item crafting parts? Would help immensely with cleaning up the inventory. Also when using the Universal Item Sorter mod, the magazine box uses the food prefix instead of the quest one.
Any chance of doing the same thing for food, parts (in Misc), and so on. I'm using Inventory Assistant (43214) but you have to drop the container in order to open it. I much prefer your approach - simple pack or unpack. Thanks.
Well yeah.. obviously.. but then you wouldn't be able to use them whenever you need to, you'd have to travel to your house first. This was made so you can have them on you at all times without the clogging up the inventory list. Is that not clear?
One quick question. Is it possible to use the magazine box more like the keyring, meaning you don't unpack the stored magazines, but go into the seperate inventory of the box (just like the key ring), where you can select the magazines you want to use?
Thanks! Submenus like how the keyring works are not something the game supports by default, but it is technically possible to achieve and was originally part of the plan. However, it requires building an entire custom UI, which is a bit overkill just to hide some magazines I thought. I figured if I do that, I might as well revamp the entire pip-boy inventory similar to DEV_INV for FO4, which I might give a shot at some day but that would be a much larger project. So I decided to keep this mod as small, simple and uncomplicated as possible, at least for now.

Thanks for the heads up, I did not know such a mod came out recently. I will make a sticky note in the comments here and in the description.

No more scrolling my eyes off just looking for an item hiding among those freaking magazines
Thank you
