Great idea. Maybe add a few extra campfire recipes so the player character can make use of the few consumables that they can find in DUST? As much as I have enjoyed Naugrim04's overhaul, I did find it annoying -- and more than a little ironic -- that a "survival simulator" made the Survival skill even less useful because you can so rarely find the ingredients to make anything at a campfire. Can share a few ideas if you are interested.

Sure, that'd be nice. New ideas help a ton. You do get a relative abundance of dog/coyote meat (nightstalkers often drop coyote parts >.< ) , and the pre-war junk food might be a... passable basis to cook something.

I didn't touch campfire too much (with the exception of gunpowder and tanned hide) because, while it's extremely rare (and RNG'y) to find good stuff, you can still find it, so, technically, it works. And I solved the survival issue by switching Pack Rat to 60 survival instead of 70 barter in my personal edits I should probably include this one as well.

I like to believe, in my moments of arrogance, that I'm gifted in the way of word Shame I can't turn it into money, unlike more conventional stuff.

Intrigued by the writeup, but when you say your aim is to make the actual recipe list match the description, it makes me wanna ask, what is the recipe list right now?

Also, while I don't mind the jsawyer-style needs recalibration, I also wouldn't mind it being separate from this mod, not cus I'd mind the changes myself, but for compatibility's sake with other mods. I'm sure some extent could be solved with shuffling load order, but, for example, I make changes to my primary needs via Project Nevada, which I can also imagine making small issues.

Anyway, I like the idea and the attention to detail described in the writeup, but I'm curious what exactly the mod has already? Will be watching this one, frankly will likely wanna use it even on a non-DUST playthrough... because I always thought *every* item in the game should at very least be worth something for materials or scrap, and I'm always trying mods which attempt something like that.

Good looks on the mod, and to answer your question, yes, other people would totally be interested in something like this. Though like I say, the jsawyer style changes may be unnecessary, at least in my own opinion. Especially since anyone could just use the jsawyer mod (or the more mod-friendly "jsawyer Ultimate" someone made recently) which would make your scripts to that effect at best redundant (and at worst, a conflict). I know they're not exactly the same, but still, it'd be a lot tidier if there were at least one version with just the crafting recipes alone.

    Tracking this one..!

Totes forgot Nexus doesnt alert the author about comments.

The recipe list will be up right about now, I'll expand the description. It will also probably be getting bigger when/if I get new ideas, too. And yes, you are right, of course. I should shift the primary needs thing elsewhere - this grew out of tiny personal edits idea so the concept is/was all over the place. I keep forgetting people use PN for everything now; never bothered with it myself. Still, mixing stuff like this is very poor taste and I should have known better.

And, no, the threshold thing is actually exactly the same as jsawyer. I had to poke the original author of the change here on Nexus to do it - GECK is too buggy to make it easy. I never actually tried using any of major mods together because even if it works fine, the content might overlap creating one hell of a weird experience, and I wanted that in DUST, so...

Also, this is intended mostly for DUST. In vanilla Vegas most of this is unneeded, you follow Easy Pete's example there. Look for the good stuff, 'good money in it'. In DUST, there's no such luxury.

As for how closely I want to adher to 'SCRAP EVERYTHING!!!' idea... I don't know. F4 goes to ridiculous levels with this, a pencil gives you 1 wood 1 rubber, so you can build a house out of 40 pencils. My goal is different - reduce the amount of useless items to as low as possible. Already I believe I'm fairly close.
