    ATTENTION!

The Bethesda.net versions of Fallout New Vegas (and Fallout 3) have been recompiled. This breaks most of the mods made in the last 10 years since NVSE will not work and no one will pick it up and make it work, let alone JIPLN, NVTF, NVAC, Johnny Guitar, Stewies Tweaks, etc. I will NOT support this version of the game either, so please do not ask. Refund the game and buy it from Steam or GoG if you want to use mods.

Please read the description before you post or make bug reports.

The GoG version of the game has 4GB enabled by default. You do not need to patch it. However the patch supports making the GoG version load NVSE automatically.

To test if the patch is working, install the latest JIP_LN plugin and type GetIsLAA in the console, if it returns 2 then it is working, if it returns 0 then the patch didn't work, if it returns 1 then the patch worked but you need to run the game as administrator for it to take effect.

If you get a black screen with ENB, run your game as administrator. Install presets like you would for the vanilla game. Do not follow instructions for the old 4gb, they will not work.
ENB now supports ENBoost without graphics hack, your mileage may vary.

ini edits that can give additional help

    [General]
    bPreemptivelyUnloadCells=1

    [BackgroundLoad]
    bSelectivePurgeUnusedOnFastTravel=1

Do not use the heap replacer in NVSR (Stutter Remover), it will make your game crash more often with an out of memory error.

To know it works, if you have NVSE installed open the console and type GetNVSEVersion, if it's non-zero then it worked.

Any complaints about this not working with a pirated version of the game will be met with a report to the staff.

Comments not pertaining to the mod itself, or not pertaining to technical issues will be deleted.

This is not a help desk for ENB, go to Boris' forum or the page for the ENB preset you downloaded.

This is not a general help desk for your questions about other mods, your load order or software, your dogs flatulence issues, or whatever, go ask in the appropriate forums.

There have been some errors with the patched executables generated by version 1.0 of this patcher, because I'm stupid sometimes.

If you had troubles with the patcher or the executable it generates, restore your original executable (FalloutNV_unpatched.exe) or verify the game cache in Steam before running the shiny new 1.3 version.

When I try to run FalloutNVpatch.exe, I get the error: the application was unable to start correctly (0xc000007b). I am running the GOG version on Windows 10 (64), and I have installed the C++ versions linked from the mod description. I there a way to fix this other than reinstalling Windows?

You need the 32bit version of the redist, not the 64 bit one.

As I understand it The GOG version of The game is already patched. I have the GOG version and don't use the patch and I have a lot of MODS and run at fairly high settings. I have read here at NEXUS and on GOG that the LAA flag is already checked on The GOG version of The Game.
      Edit: Ignore This.
Redundant The Author already stated this above in his sticky. I had been tracking this and I started typing before I realized where I was........dumb I know.

Probably whatever antivirus you use, or C++ redist is broken.

Wow, I wonder why this was done? It is unlikely that something was fixed? do you know anything about morrowind or oblivion?

Not sure what this means. Is the the Bethesda.net version some sort of update? Does this affect the GOG versions?

They recompiled the exes back in 2016 to remove steam from NV and GFWL from Fallout 3. Really dumb move imo.

It does not affect the GoG or Steam releases.

Makes sense. I use the GOG version. Might explain why some folks have inexplicable troubles with this game.

Hello. Can someone clarify which .ini files I need to make read only? The ones in the game folder or the ones in "my documents/games". Thank you.

You don't anymore, if you have jipln nvse installed, make FalloutCustom.ini in the document folder and put the ini settings in there.

It's not a fix all, if you use tons of textures and stuff it will still cause out of memory. You can use NVTF and disable mirroring texture to ram with that, should help.

Question, when accounting for the 4gb that this allows, are we talking system or video memory, or both?

    In response to post #81802178.

    Spoiler:
    Show

hi I'm having exactly the same issue except mine is a steam download did u manage to fix it?

Is what's linked in the description not the correct download? I've installed .NET, DirectX, and what I believe are the appropriate C++ redistributables. I've tried running in different comparability modes, file repair/scanning. I've tried everything the internet suggests except reinstalling Windows.

I know the GOG version has something like this built in, but I want it so that I don't have to execute NVSE every time I want to run the game.

Hi, I am having some trouble and I'm honestly not sure if it's with this Patch or not but I am pretty sure it's when I run the patch executable. I have NVSE loaded correctly, and I do get the number 2 when I type GETSIsLAA. I have the Steam version with all the DLC and whenever I install this patch my FalloutPrefs.ini and the Fallout.ini are deleted, I can't find them anywhere. Also, trying to open the FaloutNVLauncher.exe gives me an Application Error5:0000065434. I can't edit the settings to install an ENB without either the launcher.exe or the fallout.ini or falloutprefs.ini and I don't know what to do. Any help?

Did you buy the game from Bethesda.net? It's been recompiled and isn't supported, and I will not support it. NVSE doesn't work anyways with it.

Sounds like you need to install the proper VC++ redistributable.

I don't know what you mean by "missing an entry point" The required redist is literally linked on the description page.

I offer no support for ENBs.

Your issue with with whatever ENB preset you are using, they included dxgi with it probably which isn't needed on windows 10. Go talk to the preset author.

Hi, this works good but why only for falloutnv.exe? I use MO2 and when I try run fallout or fallout launcher in MO2 I got aplication load error. This fixed it but only for fallout exe. I still cant run launcher with MO2. If I wanna change settings I need to run launcher without MO2, change settings and finally copy falloutprefs.ini from My Documents to MO2 ini folder. Its exhausting.

Hi, I just got into modding and downloaded this mod as it came highly recommended and when I opened it with 7zip it said "file not found". Does anyone else have this issue? Or does anyone know how to fix it? Thanks in advance!
