Hey, I'm still using this version since I like it for its simplicity. Is there a way to add foods to the non-cannibal list?

This is an awesome concept, but does it work with Iguana on a Stick + Iguana Bits + "Strange Meat" in general.

Okay, this mod sounds really cool, but you never explained how it's possible to play with the Incurable Edition if your character can't become a cannibal until level four. How is it feasible to go four levels without eating anything? It sounds like it would just lead players to level up as quickly as possible, which seems to spoil the role-playing aspect.

In as many words as that, sure, it sounds like either it'd be impossible or you'd have to blaze through content. That's not quite the reality. For one thing, it takes a long time to outright die from starvation. Meanwhile, the affected stats are PER, CHA, STR - you take minor dips in these. For another, getting level 4 happens quickly unless you are deliberately going out of your way to keep it from happening. Granted, if you are, then the specific challenge of getting level 4 before dying of hunger is perhaps not for you. Anyway, take my word for it: Neither this aspect of it, nor the unquestionably more demanding task of surviving Dead Money with no food, are insurmountable in the least. (Though the latter does give that DLC a fair bit of urgency.)

Advice? Spend some of the pre-level-4 time killing, say, the fiends around Vault 3, so you will be good to go once you level up. I'll also note that the Jsawyer mod tweaks needs rates, resulting in overall slower starvation. Not required, but if you want to feel less pressured about leveling, it's worth knowing.

Cool, thanks for clarifying. It doesn't sound quite so daunting when you put it like that, and the whole "race against the clock" aspect would certainly lend some much-needed urgency to the beginning stages of the game. I'll try it out!

also figured i would note that there are several NPC's in the game that have or drop "strange meat" and "Human flesh" food items. whether @Asterra made these items count or not i dont know but worth noting that it is possible to get human meat as low as level 1

Those do count. Also the strange meat pies (but not the imitation ones).

I would love it so much were you to alter this perk/incurable version into a trait that could be selected at the beginning of the game. I hate having to change the load order every time I want to play differently.

I really dislike this mechanic from Fallout 4! It seemed *too* implausible, even for a Fallout game; real cannibalism doesn't work this way at all! Also, it differs from how cannibals have been portrayed in prior Fallout games; they aren't mutants, just normal humans who have made the choice to consume human flesh for one reason or another.

However, I still commend you for making this mod, for people who want to have this mechanic. It seems rather well made and accurately recreated how it works in Fallout 4. The more mods, the better, and its always good to see new mod ideas being brought to life in New Vegas!

I actually only made this mod as a way of legitimizing my own playstyle (which, in the interest of challenge, follows the mandate of the Incurable Edition). The advent of Fallout 4's special take on cannibalism was mainly an extra impetus, as well as a source for naming the mod, so it didn't seem like I was pulling the idea from out of thin air.

Isn't there a perk that allows you to eat ghouls and mutants? That should solve the Dead Money problem.

I have a better cannibalism mod that allows me to harvest meat from corpses, and unfortunately, the Dark Cravings popped up before I actually ate any human meat.

If you can come up with a decent upside to go with it, this would work perfectly as a trait. Maybe eating a corpse restores considerable amounts of hunger and dehydration, a lot more than normal? I dunno. I just know that "Able to eat corpses for sustenance right from the start" doesn't feel like enough of a tradeoff for "Can't eat anything BUT corpses for sustenance".

I might be barking up the wrong tree, though... I don't know whether or not cannibalism requires a perk in FO4.

I understand where you're coming from.

The point of this mod is to serve as a roleplaying vehicle, and, more specifically, to be the counterpart to what exists in an official capacity in Fallout 4. If I were to add an arbitrary bonus, that would unfortunately miss the point, and also violate my adherence to what Fallout 4 established. Obviously a mod focusing on cannibalism, especially one that doesn't boost this or that, was never going to be popular. That was never my concern; I made this for myself.

For a decent enhancement to cannibalism, as opposed to my strict FO4 mimicry, you might try Cannibal Perk Improvements or FNV Better Cannibals, here on Nexus.

Edit: I'll further clarify that the capacity you referenced - the ability to eat corpses from the beginning of the game - is not something which this mod enables (including the Incurable Edition). All this mod does is make normal food useless for healing and hunger, a-la Fallout 4. The Incurable Edition merely causes this effect to occur once the mod is installed, as opposed to when you eat a corpse.
