This is probably the last update I'm going to do for a long while. I'm pretty happy with where things are, though I want to add some things in future, but right now I'm pretty burned out on this and school will be taking up a large portion of my time starting soon. I'm still extremely open to suggestion, and want to add a lot of what people requested, but for the forseeable future the only updates I'll release will likely be minor updates to add more ammo types from mods to the .INI system. Still, feel free to report bugs and give feedback.
Want to add/change/remove recoil values? 1. Navigate to the config folder (usually C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Fallout New Vegas\ Data\Config) 2. Open up "Real Recoil.ini" in a text editor
-If Editing/Removing Ammo- 3. Use Ctrl+F to find the ammo in question, ommitting periods (e.g. "556mm" instead of "5.56mm" ) 4. Edit the value on the right side of the equals sign (If removing recoil, comment out or delete the line completely) 5. Save & Quit
-If Adding Ammo from a mod- 6. Create a new section in brackets with the name of the .esp or .esm that adds the ammo 7. Download and open FNV Edit (http://www.nexusmods.com/newvegas/mods/34703/?) 8. Find the ammo from the mod you want to add and lookup its FormID 9. Add its FormID to the new section ommitting the first two characters and any leading 0s (e.g. add "BCD8" instead of "0100BCD8" ) 10. Save & Quit
The unique gatling laser "Vengeance" and the electro-magnetic Tesla cannon both have unbearably high recoil with this mod (like, comically high). Vengeance's rate of fire is made redundant because every shot after the first or second will go way over the targets head, meaning you almost have to single-fire it. The tesla cannon's recoil is seemingly bugged with this mod and will sometimes make you look directly up or 180 degrees behind you, and you'll be unable to control where you're aiming for up to 5 seconds. Just letting people know if they're planning on doing a big weapons+energy weapons build, two of the best guns for that build are unusable with this mod. I have 8 STR and they're both very heavy weapons which, according to the mod description, should be inversely related to recoil. They both use ECP so maybe it's something to do with that ammo type?
Immersive Recoil has recently gotten a slew of updates, and can now achieve close to the same feel as Real Recoil but with much higher customization, I recommend you try it out. It will take some time to nail down the settings you like, but you can adjust (or disable) recoil for individual weapons with that, so you can have recoil free laser weapons!
Anyone know how to get this mod to behave better with mods like NVTS or B42 Optics? Using La Longue Carabine, recoil has my scope clip into my FOV with every shot.
Have a weird thing where the laser rifle "jumps" a half second after shooting, its like the animation is resetting and was wondering if its linked to this mod and if anyone else has the same thing.
hey if someone uses it in 2022 with TTW (tale of the two wasteland) and having trouble with recoil going downside instead of up - changing numbers in .INI to negative (aka just adding "-" before numbers) fixes it . It did mine.
