there is not single mod like this  for fallout 4 that work without problem, what a shame

    this mod is underrated

    edit
i recommend installing immersive recoil npc to prevent enemies from burning all their ammo

Fallout 4 config tool, there's an ini setting to make npcs use ammo, it applies to companions too so you'll need to keep them stocked. It also applies to NPCs like BoS soldiers etc so you're probably gonna see a lot of people in power armor getting into fist fights with robots

i know, new vegas has the same setting, but the game doesn't give enough ammo to the npcs, same for fallout 4, that is why a mod like this is required

      Oh but there is friend!
Immersive NPC Ammo at Fallout 4 Nexus - Mods and community (nexusmods.com)
Run xEdit to check for conflicts and make any necessary custom patches to your own modlist. Ive been using it in VR. Patched it between See-Through-Scopes and Unofficial FO4 Patch. Works like a charm and i dont have to carry boat loads of ammo in survival mode now.

this is nice but they have way too little ammo so they just shoot, dont hit absolute s#*! and run away like cowards, id rather have them shooting at me forever with infinite bullets than running away

What about a mod making all NPCs affected by weapon/armor condition (not just companions) for an even more "no free rides" feel?

I noticed a "bug" -- I snuck in a feature at one time or another and didn't remember doing it! Massive bug in my cerebellum. The prescribed remedy is bludgeoning with a large, heavy object, although that may only exacerbate the problem. ;-P

Ammunition given to NPCs is already scaled by their level above the player based on their ratio above the player's level, if they are six or more levels above the player, with a maximum of double (which occurs when their level minus 5 is quadruple your level, so they'd have to be pretty badass). Unfortunately there's no way to disable or configure it, which isn't in keeping with my trend towards avoiding magic numbers. There are a few other things in there with magic numbers that I never got around to externalising either ([edit]with this mod, not with my other mod, although that too =P[/edit]). I'll throw 'em on my local TODO. When/if (hopefully when) I get around to learning mod configuration menus -- shouldn't take me more than an afternoon, but anything "unfun" tends to be delayed considerably ;-) -- I'll have that one patched out and externalised as well.

Oh sweet someone who did it better than I would have! I will just point my mod here and stop people asking me about its bugs. Just reading the description looks real nice, congrats.
