    Notice!
FNVLODGen is not compatible with texture packs by default. Texture packs must include updated LOD textures to work properly with FNVLODGen to generate visually matching LODs. If authors are not around to create them, anyone good with Photoshop/GIMP of other editors can do that.
Check in NifScope what textures are used in _lod.nif meshes and update them to match new textures if needed. Keep in mind that normal maps must always have the same file name as diffuse with _n.dds suffix for FNVLODGen.

LOD Fixes and Improvements - NVSE
Removes a lot of vanilla LOD limitations. Warnings about vertex or atlas overlflow can be ignored if installed.

I'm at a loss. Everything generates perfectly except the vegas walls. They have a black texture instead of the normal lod :(

Nevermind. Vibva New Vegas had a patch made in heaven specifically for me it seems. The LOD patch in their resources tab fixed the black texture.

Anyone know why I don't got the option to generate terrain? I can see options for objects and trees but not terrain

You need a newer version called xLODGen.

so as I was trying to install this mod, when I generate LODs for WastelandNV I receive this message for almost every LOD:
< WARNING: LOD level 4 coord [-8, -12] textures not on atlas, some LOD will be missing in game! >
for the rest of worldspaces LODs generate fine.
As a result of this: when I stand at Trading Post 188 and look where Helios One should be, I can only see solar panels, but not the tower or the building. This gets even weirder since I can see Novac's Dinosaur...
    Help please!

      Read the sticky posts.
Reading in general helps a lot.

Not sure what I've done wrong but the high hills in the distance look like corrugated tin roofing. Any tips?

Totally kills performance, just not worth it at all if I'm getting sub 30 fps in the wasteland when I normally easily get 60, probably in the 100s if it was uncapped. Looks great but completely kills gameplay, I'll stick to my randomly popping in structures :P

Install less 3rd party LOD mods or don't install them at all. Subpar 3rd party LOD models is what affects performance the most.
Vanilla LOD models are usually enough to generally update LODs according to load order.

I used all the 'highly recommended' mods in your description only, or do you count these as 3rd party? I can just use FNVLODGen without these then? I did use Flora overhaul with it first also so I figured it was just that killing my frames. But without it my fps also shit.

I will try having only FNVLODGen no other recommended LOD mods

Everything is 3rd party except official DLCs.
The list of recommended LOD mods improve visuals, of course at the cost of performance. Nothing is free. You have to balance performance of your game on your PC yourself.
Regenerating LODs without any 3rd party LOD mods provides vanilla performance more or less.

Alright thanks that definitely makes sense then yeah. I am however, getting missing textures messages in the generator window without any of the 3rd party mods, such as "textures not on atlas, some LOD will be missing". But with the 3rd party models I don't get this error but of course it will impact my FPS too much.

Also, do I need to select more than the MojaveWasteland in the left hand side? Like for freeside, etc.

This is not missing textures, this is when all used LOD textures don't fit on a single one (atlas) which is being created as a part of LOD generation. Try to increase atlas size and use the mod from the sticky post above.
Decision on worldspaces (where you want to see updated LODs) depends on you only, where you spend the majority of your time in game to care for the better LOD.

Thank you for your answers! And your work, LODGen always worked great for me in other Beth games. I'll tinker around with it and see what works best :)

Couldn't agree more. I installed some environmental mods, some stuff to add enhancements, flora mods that say to run LODGen... the recommended resource mods and ended up with a Minecraft looking New Vegas. Deleted the generated LOD and the game looks great now, and I couldn't care less about the occasional scrub tree popping up while I'm walking along...

If anyone needs clear instructions on how to generate the LOD through Vortex, this link is very helpful:  https://www.reddit.com/r/FalloutNewVegasMods/comments/1c16vb9/generating_lod_using_vortex/

any idea what i did wrong

i tried going over the process again and no change
ill list all mods im using here

    FNVLODgen Resources
    LODadditions
    Much needed LOD
LOD FIxes and Improvements - NVSE
Wastland Flora Overhaul (i did follow instructions from that author as well and made sure to reinstall over all the other mods)

I don't know man this was a dog s#*! option that didn't make the performance hiccups worth the nonsense. Once I got rid of the mods and all of the files in the overwrite folder it was back to normal. I don't recommend this mod unless if you know what you're doing in an extremely informed way.

Hi, this is how i got the xLODGen to work on EPIC games version (googling for this didn't find any relevant results, so hopefully
keyword of EPIC can point here)
Issue was : "Fatal: Could not find ini" while running fnvlodgen, and before it was something about registry
missing (program suggests starting the launcher for STEAM version).

Problem was the program didn't know where the DATA folder was, and where the
"Fallout.ini" was. You fix this by editing the arguments section in
    modmanager2

Used this : (likely unneeded, but it helped me find out what file i actually needed to link, and I think this corrected
the .exe location that was missing) :
Fallout New Vegas Registry Fix 32_64 Bit

    Helpful links:
    Used this : https://vivanewvegas.moddinglinked.com/lod.html
    this : https://dyndolod.info/Help/xLODGen
    this : https://tes5edit.github.io/docs/2-overview.html#CommandLineSwitches

And then manually i typed this in modmanager2 > executables > xLODGen > Arguments
it already had the argument of :
(my stuff was installed on I: partition instead so change your locations accordingly)

    -FNV -O:"I:\lods\lods"

and then I added 1 extra argument (since the above "Fallout New Vegas Registry Fix 32_64 Bit" likely fixed the game "DATA" location, the only missing was "Fallout.ini") ,for the location of "Fallout.ini"

     -I:"C:\Users\User\Documents\My Games\FalloutNV_Epic\Fallout.ini"

So the full arguments line looked like this (again edit locations yourself) :
     -FNV -O:"I:\lods\lods" -I:"C:\Users\User\Documents\My Games\FalloutNV_Epic\Fallout.ini"

Wouldnt be surprised if the "Fallout New Vegas Registry Fix 32_64 Bit" step wasskippable and you could add this for the .exe location :
    -D:"I:\Games\FalloutNewVegas\Fallout New Vegas English\Data"

for a full argument line of this :
     -FNV -O:"I:\lods\lods" -I:"C:\Users\User\Documents\My Games\FalloutNV_Epic\Fallout.ini" -D:"I:\Games\FalloutNewVegas\Fallout New Vegas English\Data"

I'm sure someone can make a clearer shorter more concise version :)
Anyway it all works, thanks Zilav and Team, (but maybe there could be a line of text in the description or something that said how to troubleshoot if the program can't find the locations, would've helped my dumb brain atleast :D )
