    Notice!
FNVLODGen is not compatible with texture packs by default. Texture packs must include updated LOD textures to work properly with FNVLODGen to generate visually matching LODs. If authors are not around to create them, anyone good with Photoshop/GIMP of other editors can do that.
Check in NifScope what textures are used in _lod.nif meshes and update them to match new textures if needed. Keep in mind that normal maps must always have the same file name as diffuse with _n.dds suffix for FNVLODGen.

WastelandNVmini is not the main worldspace, iirc it is the background one when inside Lucky 38. I doubt you'll be able to notice any issues there in game, or just don't generate LOD for it.

I'll opt to just not generate LOD for it, thanks for the reply

I'm using Mod Organizer 2, and I have set the binary and arguments field correctly to the file paths. I hit run in mod organizer and nothing happens. MO2 loads for a second and nothing happens. Lodgen works outside of MO2, but even if I run MO2 as administrator it still wont run Lodgen. I have pretty basic mods installed, the only crazy mods I have really is an enb, open strip/freeside, and legacy texture pack which said was compatible with lodgen.

really unsure what else to try to get this to work, I've dealt with a lot of obscure modding issues in a few games but this one has me stumped.

      > Lodgen works outside of MO2
Sounds like FNVLODGen works as intended and there is nothing we need to do.
If you have problems with other program like MO2, then read its documentation, use its forums, comments etc.

      >I have set the binary and arguments field correctly to the file paths
A hunch tells me this is not quite the case.

Checking logs of programs like MO2 or FNVLODGen is the obvious first troubleshooting step.

Are the resources (the .esp) needed AFTER generating the LOD?

      Of course it is needed.
When downloaded files contain plugins (.esm or .esp extensions) they are supposed to be installed and stay active in load order unless mod author states otherwise. This general rule applies to all mods, not only FNVLODGen.

Besides there is the same question asked a few messages below. If you rush to ask questions without reading at least 3-5 pages of the latest Nexus comments under any mod, then you gonna have a lot troubles modding games. Comments are the ultimate knowledgebase of modding.

      Not with information you provided.
Besides LOD can never corrupt save games, turn screen into some color and very very unlikely to cause crashes. Whatever happens with your game I'm pretty sure that the LOD is not the reason.

This makes me feel so stupid. like Intelligence 1. Ill be playing this forever so hopefully at some point this LOD stuff gets user friendly. I cant get it to find an output path.

something like this will never user friendly, i guaranteed the mod author worked really hard to make this happened...sure some people dont like MO2, they used NMM and others instead, so that resulting you dont know where the output path, i think it just same as xlodgen, if you edit the command like in properties of the exe shortcut by putting "-fnv" at the end of the path,

the output of the file will go to data/meshes/landscape/lod and data/textures/landscape/lod - you can delete this file if youre not satisfied with the result

Actually, what you need to do is make an output folder (wherever you want) and then make shortcut to FNVLODGen and set the parameters like mine:"C:\GOG Games\Fallout New Vegas\FNVLODGen.exe" -o:"C:\GOG Games\Fallout New Vegas\FNVLODGenOutput" If you do it correctly, the output will be in the new folder you created (mine is C:\GOG Games\Fallout New Vegas\FNVLODGenOutput).  Make an archive of the generated output using something like 7zip or even Windows built in zip file utility.  You can then install the archive like a regular mod with either MO2 or Vortex (don't use NMM or FOMM).  Whatever you do, don't install it directly into your data folder.

      briliant, thanks man

if steam user, just add FNVLodgen output folder in new vegas diectory and copy its path address

make a shortcut of fnvlodgen and find properties to change its target, add - and path address

      edit:"E:\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\Fallout New Vegas\FNVLODGen.exe" -o:"E:\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\Fallout New Vegas\FNVLODGenOutput"

Excellent mod, for anyone ever having problems with the "no options found" type of error.  Turn off your anti-virus, that worked for me.

Missing options file is not an error. In fact it should be missing for almost everyone except a few mod authors who really need to set some hidden LOD generation options not available in GUI.

The only reason this "error" is even printed in the messages log is to show the correct file name for options file which xLODGen expects. So if someone really needs to add options they know exactly how to name such file and avoid guessing.

I keep getting the error "Fatal: <Exception: "YUP - Base Game + All DLC.esm" requires master "FalloutNV.esm" to be loaded before it.>"

I got this same error with a few other things, but fixed it by just just using "sort now" or adding a new rule in Vortex. But for this esm it just will not work. Tried autosorting, tried adding a rule in Vortex, tried adding a rule in LOOT; nothing, same error. Is this just not compatible with Vortex at all?

When I remove YUP, the same thing happens with New Vegas Landscape Overhaul, i.e. it just will not work no matter the rules I create.

Probably  a conflict with a mesh or a .esp if you're running multiple .esp lod mods. May help to generate LOD again to be sure.

same. Nellis flight control tower also. Regenerating lod does not solve the issue.

If there are issues reported in the messages log caused by 3rd party mods (atlas or vertices overflow) then regenerating wouldn't help.

No idea why some people consider the process of LOD regeneration to be some kind of a miracle from above which is able to solve any issues. It is like having a hard mod conflict and autosorting load order again and again believing that on the Nth time it would somehow fix itself.

Check errors messages in the generation log, find out which 3rd party mods cause them and remove, and then run LOD generation. Repeat until there are no errors reported, only then LOD will work without issues in the game.

Ok but how do I read errors?  I've looked over & over for any kind of reference point & I can't find it.  Can't even verify if it's actually generating LOD, which I hope it's not at this point but it ignored input commands that were supposed to help it find the .ini when it was outside the folder, and seems to be ignoring output commands (the one you listed) for generated LOD files. Is there like.. a manual that can tell me what a Code 2 is?  I couldn't find anything amounting to a readme & FNVEdit troubleshooting doesn't seem to be relevant here.

Thank you. LODs are a lot more labor intensive than I realized.  Oh, how would I know what file it's not finding?  I think it's referencing a file I put in a subfolder.  Should that just be in the FNV folder too?  One of the .txt files.

Oh nevermind, it's a whole bunch of options files I would assume that it should be writing for itself.. FNVLODGen_Thisplace_options.txt type stuff

...options.txt is optional and actually should be missing, only used in specific cases.
Error messages obviously follow failed actions that took place earlier, so check message(s) right above the warning/error in the log.

I always get this bug. I've played with an invisible Lucky 38 for years. IDK how to fix it. I just reinstalled the game and built a completely new load order, generated LOD and once again I have an invisible Lucky 38. There are no errors in my log either.

Remove all mods and regenerate LOD, it should be visible. If not, then something is wrong with your core game files because pure vanilla LOD generation works for sure. Tested by myself and a lot of other proficient mod makers.

Then start adding mods and regening LOD until Lucky 38 disappears to narrow down which mod causes that.  All issues with LODs are always due to 3rd party mods.

You need to do this only if there are no warnings in the generation log, otherwise a warning explains the reason: vertices overflow because of too many LOD mods, atlas overflow because of texture packs with broken LOD textures like NMC.

How do I tell if it's working or not? After I run fnv lod gen and then manually close as instructed, do I need to do anything else or is it good to go?

Read the description instead of asking non specific questions. Common sense would be "C:\FNVLODGen" or maybe "C:\Modding\FNVLODGen" for example.
