I uploaded the latest version which allows to force the Logbook to be initialized via MCM. This solves for those using alternative starts, DUST, PB or whatever mod that doesn't allow you to complete the 2 requisites (Doc mitchell quest for NV or escaping the vault for TTW). I also corrected the date, so that whatever day the modder chooses, your day 1 will always be when you initialize.
NVSE requisites raised from the previous version, 5+ is mandatory now
I'd like to spend a couple of words, however. I just installed TTW, my average fps is 20-25, which is still enjoyable for me. HOWEVER, writing the logbook is a lil pain. It's important that you don't forget this: the response is proportional to your framerate, lower it is and worse it will be writing. So if you're a coffeine addicted like me, who bashes on keyboard at the speed of light, then prolly you'll get upset easily by all the mistakes on what you write...
Yeah, I'm playing with New California and after getting up from hospital bed and forcing past requirement I'm now constantly getting a notification that pauses my game saying requirements not met! Why? Sorry for the spam! I have no Idea why that happened! But I did check it turns out I simply forgot to download UIO!

How do I save what I write? So it shows a bunch of items or objects from my pipboy written in the brackets on the first line, and I was able to create a new page that wrote what day it was and it saying 'nothing so far' So I wrote my entries over that to fill about five lines, got out the logbook, and it didnt exist when I got back into it. Am I missing a step?
Your FUD commend has 0 value, you don't give any reasons to substantiate your claim.
It works like a charm for me, this is the version I have: Logbook v5.1 - 16 mar 2016-58447-5-1.
You may have forgotten to install Child CotW - Lutana CotW Expansion (LCWE) I'm not sure but I think it needs that mod as a dependency even if it's not named in the requirements.
Edit: Scratch that ^^^^, I was confused, the only requirements are UIO and NVSE, I don't know what I was thinking that mod Lutana is a requirement for Children of The Wasteland not for this mod.
I wrote a huge post detailing the plethora of infuriating bugs I'd encountered, but I decided, "Less is more".
Look through the comments, you'll see people saying the same things. 'It's fiddly with making new lines', 'I'm not able to type a certain letter for some reason', 'It's causing me UI bugs,' , 'I can't use punctuation', etc etc. I haven't bothered with this mod for so long that I can't remember the rest, but dude. Thanks for your equally valueless comment of, "But it works for me!"
This mod is the bee's knees for an anal-retentive FONV player such as myself!
It adds an incredible strategic depth to the game, since you can make notes of all the exact places where piles of valuable loot are, and then return later with an empty inventory and hoard it all.
The logbook also helps to make notes of interesting places that you find that you don't want to explore right then and there, so you can remember later and return when you have more time or are in the mood.
These are just two of its applications that I remember right now, but I'm sure it has many more.
If only there was something like this plugin for Fallout 3! Wishful thinking, I know, but if someone who reads this knows anything like it for FO3 please let me now.
Sometimes when I open the logbook I can't type the letter e. I have to exit out and try it again for it to work. Does anyone else have this problem and know of a fix?
i have the same issue. How many pages do you have written? I'm wondering if the problem has arises more often the more pages you have. I'm at 171 days and started having the issue at around 165.
not sure if this mod is still active but i have to ask as i'm confused and the description doesn't say: how does this help with the Groovatron mod. i ask because groovatron is 1 of the mods i consider essential but doesn't work when playing Dust as you need to start from Doc Mitchell's house for it to initialize so does this mod fix that via the MCM or is it just for writing in the journal
EDIT: tried using this mod in DUST and due to not starting in doc Mitchell's house or doing his "tests" it isn't giving me the logbook and using console it says: doc mitchell vanilla quest not completed. how do i fix this?
Does anyone know of a way to import a log from a previous character into a new one? I'm restarting my character with TTW roleplaying the same character and I would like to keep the logbook without having to rewrite everything.
Or if not perhaps a way to copy text into a new character's logbook?
SO COOL!!!! Works 99% flawlessly, the one thing I've seen is that in game mode, it successfully stops all the other game hotkeys EXCEPT for the mod Just Weapon Hweel, hitting my hotkey for that while typing still makes the weapon wheel's sound effect, but it *does* seem to successfully block the weapon wheel from popping up. Amazing job on this, it REALLY adds to the immersion being able to type in the logbook without the game pausing. Lets you sit up on a scenic spot overlooking the wastes and muse about your adventures. I'm the same as you and type like a caffeine whirlwind, and even at 60 fps my typing tends to get ahead of the logbook's ability to keep up. But that honestly just makes it feel more authentic, like you're typing on an archaic piece of tech that's PROBABLY got sand all up in the keys. Thank you for sharing this, it's made my recent return to the Mojave quite a bit more immersive and enjoyable
Thanks for this, love to write my character's journey across the Wastes with TTW. Question though: the description states that Lutana is a requirement for exporting the logbook. Although Lutana is not available on its own it's incorporated into JIP LN NVSE plugin which I have installed. Whenever I try to export the logbook via MCM I get the message that the Logbook was exported but the file is nowhere to be found. Is this a problem on my end or something else?
EDIT: Disregard, file was foun in MO2's Overwrite folder as opposed to the Data Folder.

FO2AM thanks for this.
This mod is a crappy mess full of bugs. Shame it's abandoned.
