You have 1000 points to go through before you die, it's not like that's not already giving you plenty of time to recover. If you don't like the tiny bit of risk associated with hunger, drink and sleep, then turn off hardcore mode.
Sir, this mod was mainly to remove the instant death feature. at 1000 you start to take damage, and the higher you get past that gets more damage. that pretty much the main idea.
Like I said - you have 1000 points and gradually worsening stat drops to accompany it. By the 900 mark, you're noticably crippled as it is. It's hard;y "instant death" - it takes a bit of a role-play mentality to see that your character has been suffering and dying up to this point and is finally about the kick the bucket.
the idea of the mod is to make hardcore less deathly risky. making it easier to survive but adding a new danger thats more realistic, a slow death rather then instant
