I came to this site via the posts on the Sortomatic page as I wanted to check it out. I will not download this mod yet as I am currently playing a heavily modded game, and to download it now will just add to the confusion. I am using the Gopher suggested mods (for his Let's Play Videos) and then some. I am posting as this comment in the hopes that you will supply some more photos, after all pictures can sell a mod. I personally might be inclined to add a mod, even to an in progress heavily modded game if the photos struck my fancy. The Sortomatic is a great time saver that you added, now just market your mod.

    Good Luck!

There aren't many photos I can add. Sortomatic itself adds menus and some of these menus are shown on the Sortomatic page. This mod uses the existing containers in the Chef's house with one addition; a small radio is added in the bedroom near the main sorting chest. The radio is used for configuring some of the menus in the game.

Version 1.0 of this mod isn't completely compatible with the Sortomatic for A World of Pain mod (http://newvegas.nexusmods.com/mods/41180/?) . That mod includes a list of AWOP-specific weapons, and this mod overwrites that list; the weapons still work with Sortomatic but they aren't automatically recognized the first time they are seen. I PMed the mod author a while ago to get permission to include this AWOP-specific weapon list in a variant of this mod, but I've never heard back from the author.

The AWOP patches in NVEC - New Vegas Enhanced Content (http://newvegas.nexusmods.com/mods/44204/?) change the AWOP-specific weapons to vanilla weapons, so if you use that mod the AWOP-specific weapon list wouldn't be needed anyway.

I solved that problem in my game by merging both form lists in FNVEdit and including them in my merged patch. The only downside to this is that it has to be done with a new game or a clean save as form lists seem to be included in the saved games files and can only be updated by script once loaded the first time. When I eventually update to 1.3, I'll have to undoubtedly do a clean save to remake the form lists.

The other possibility is to use a startup "run once" script to add items to the formlist by script when the game first starts. It's fairly easy to do and I've actually already got one to add all the DLC weapons to the Sortomatic formlists. If I feel inspired and create such a script for Tales of the Burning Sands for all of its new items, I'll let you have it (if you want it) so that you don't have to worry about this issue in the future. Then you could just leave the formlists out of your mod completely, relying on Sortomatic.esm for the base lists, and use the scripts to add the TotBS items to them. Underwater Home uses a similar method for its custom sorter.

      Anyway, just an idea.

I based the changes to the FormID lists on what I saw in the other Sortomatic house mods. This mod is the only one I'm aware of that adds to the crafting lists, by the way. I have seen several recommendations to use "run once" scripts for adding items to vendor lists, but I haven't previously seen recommendations to use it for adding to other FormID lists . It sounds like a good idea.

I'd be interested in the script for adding DLC weapons to FormID lists, and maybe others might also find it useful. I haven't written any FNV scripts yet.

Since most of the (way too few) Sortomatic home mods are based on Vanilla content, I'm not surprised that you haven't seen formlist issues much. Yet, seeing as TotBS adds SO much new crafting and ingredients, you kinda had to.

I got inspired last night and wrote the script to add the TotBS items to the formlists. I'll PM you with that info. Same with the DLC stuff.

Thanks very much. You might also want to add in the scripts the vanilla items I included in the FormID lists, or I can leave those in the expanded FormID List I used. They are needed in a number of recipes from Tales of the Burning Sands, and in some cases recipes for other mods.

You separately asked about NVEC compatibility with the house. Timeburn's NVEC Mod Expansion mod (http://newvegas.nexusmods.com/mods/48007/?) has a compatibility patch for NVEC and Tales of the Burning Sands that takes care of a number of compatibility issues such using the LFox refillable bottles from NVEC along with the new canteen in Tales of the Burning Sands. The only remaining issue I'm aware of is adding the NVEC Chem crafting station to the house; I suggested this to Timeburn.

The new version 1.1 using a script eliminates the incompatibilty with the Sortomatic for a World of Pain mod.

    @Kelwyn...

It looks like Gribbleshnibit upgraded Sortomatic to v1.3 and homes built with v1.22 won't be compatible because of the displays or some such. Any chance you could update this one to work with 1.3? Thanks again for making this. And... endorsed!

Edit: I'm also going to mention to Gribble to link this player home from the Sortomatic page. Only through extensive digging was I able to find this.

Wow, that's great. Sortomatic hadn't been updated for a very long time. I'll look at updating this mod, but I might not have to since the current version doesn't use the Display object capability from Sortomatic. I wanted to post the basic mod before adding any display object capabilities; I'll look at the new version of this capability in Sortomaic 1.3. I'll post some questions on the Sortomatic page since there are a few small changes that would be helpful. For example, there doesn't seem to be any way to set a default container for either all the normal everyday miscellaneous items or for toys.

I wish I found it out earlier; it's been available for a long time but I didn't notice it until recently.

Nice! I do love me some Sortomatic! It's a shame it didn't catch on better and become the "sorting standard" for player homes. It's really quite amazing. Well, at least there are some fellow aficionados out there. Thanks for this!

With Chapter 3 of Tales from the Burning Sands getting close to release, I started a new playthrough of Fallout New Vegas. I tried using Sortomatic on another player house and found it very helpful. When I finished Chapter 1 of Tales of the Burning Sands and received the House of the Chef I began creating this small mod to add the Sortomatic capabilities to the house. Since it is fairly centrally located I find it an ideal player house for the game. I tried to make as few visual changes as possible in adding the Sortomatic scripts and capabilities to the house. I hope others find the changes useful; I've been using it for a while and I find it simplifies some of the tedious tasks in managing inventory and crafting.
