very nice mode, I do enjoy using sword weapons and even though yours isn't as "shiny as some others, it is nice to use. So good job and keep up the good work.
I won't pretend to be knowledgeable about swords, but I have some advice.
Firstly, make the handle more even; one that uneven would cause blisters rather quickly. Secondly, make the blade thinner, especially near the hilt, but only if doing that doesn't seem as though it would throw the sword's balance out the window. The thicker the blade, the heavier the weapon, and in the Mojave, more weight in the form of a weapon means less space available for food, water, and medicine.
That being said, I like that you made a falchion (correct me if I'm wrong there) as your first mod attempt. Despite my loathing for New Vegas' melee system, I loathe it because the mechanics are horridly simple, not because I dislike the melee weapons themselves. Having more variety for melee combat makes it that much more appealing.
As far as the texture goes, you can only improve from here. Try making the gold circle on the pommel less cheese-yellow, though. Add some scratches to the blade, perhaps, and try adding a little blue coloration to give the metal a galvanized appearance; no one likes a rusty sword, unless he/she is trying to kill people with tetanus, as opposed to evisceration. Also, though it won't improve the quality of the texture, try scaling it up somewhat so that you can work in some smaller details in certain areas, such as sharpening the edges of the gemstones in the pommel.
Thanks for the very descriptive critiques, and I really don't know anything about swords, so I will trust your classification of it, and texture improvments are in the works, but I am currently away from home, and will not be able to work on it, also, please look out for my future mods, as they are sure to get better....
Thanks, and yeah, I've never been much of a texture artist (usually a character modeller), and you can expect better as I get used to the modding workflow
