i like the idea, and that finaly someone has remebered the rebreather. i personaly am gonna hold off till the dead money cloud is included. the poison is not really something i run into, i avoid it so that part is meh.

P.S. can u modify the tank on the back of the head or is that outside of ur expertise. It is just too big and dont look right. If i could i would half the size of the tank, buff the look to be newer (not so much like a bunch of scrap on ur head) move the hose to the other side so not to clip with guns when aiming or put hoses on both sides to even it out(i an ocd about symmetry) An idea is to bring it back to jack to upgrade (the 1 or 2 hoses part) for caps or more parts.
What about poison resistance, it looks like it would protect you from most airborne poisons and radioactive dust particles?
You're right; didn't think of it since Poison doesn't do much for me; i hate the poison sound so much i made myself a gun that uses next to no points in Vats just so i can pull it out to kill cazadors. Most of the poisons in vegas are injected; or rather the most annoying ones. The rebreather won't do much against stings from cazadors and scorpions.
Better to just edit the poison sound out because that is actually more annoying then 10% more or less poison damage.
If i added that it would be both realistic and unrealistic at the same time. Realistic because it would protect you from airborne toxins, unrealistic because 10% more poison resistance would also help against cazador stings which would make no sense.
Maybe i could do something with the Dead Money corrosive cloud. The Rebreather could what the Companion Dean normally does. When you have him with you, he'll give you a short time period in which you're unaffected by the toxic Gas. He does that by magical forcefield i think.
Supposedly he does that by teaching you about unclean living. Knowledge you immediately forget when he leaves you.
I watched what the Respirator in Lonesome Road could do. It would prevent you from inhaling Dust and other radioactive Particles, if its Filters where new. You'll find radioactive Particles in the Air whereever you have Dust and, well, Radioactivity higher then normal background Radiation. Keeping you from inhaling those will protect you from some Radiation. It wont be as useful as 40%, as i've given the Rebreather, you could argue that this makes it a cheat item.
Fallout is surprisingly realistic in some aspects. In sealed Containers some food can survive and stay edible for a very long time. It'll taste like dirt with dust, but it will be edible. The Food we find in fallout is all dehydrated and powdered. No spores from fungi that produce any toxins can survive in there, so the food won't spoil. Every molecule that gives it any taste will have fallen apart after about 80 years; after 200 there might be some carbo-hydrates left that might sustain you.
Most of the foodstuffs that's prepared and stored to be edible for a long time is kept by the military. But i suppose our selection from different items is better then MRE's with different Numbers on them =)
@Marx much of the fallout universe is not based in reality. This seems like a variation of the breathing mask from lonesome roads. Think of how crazy it is to eat irradiated food that is over 200 years old.
The radiation won't be effective as it will damage your skin and body.
And the rebreather can't do anything but it is good you did it because when people like use for example something that covers the whole body the rebreather will be effective.
