At the beginning of January 2014, I had to format my hard drive.

Since at the moment I'm not planning on reinstalling Fallout, this means that there probably won't be any new version of this mod, at least not made by me... sorry.

I'll try to keep checking the comments from time to time, though.

This is game "Fallout New Vegas" NOT Skyrim you ruin Fallout by trying to make it more like skyrim
go play Fallout 1 + 2 then think about this modification you made

Modifying the vanilla game is the whole point of modding.

If you don't like the idea behind this mod then simply don't install it.

@Djhater, Be gone troll. This mod is one of my top 5 favorite mods for Fallout and a must have mod. This mod prevents you from just level'n twice and then spending your points all on one skill and maxing it out to 100 in less then 10 minutes. Why log-in to Nexus just to complain about a mod, Simply just ignore it if you don't like it and don't use it. Your just being an idiot.

@Uoud, I'm sad to see your discontinue this mod, However its still one of the best mods our there for fallout. I hope you the best

@djhater: Why is it so hard for people to simply use "CONSTRUCTIVE CRITICISM" rather than coming off as being a prick? Are you going to go through each and every single mod on this site just to procrastinate against someone else's hard work just because it simulates a style within another game you don't like? This is just another mod, like all others out there, that has been uploaded for those WHO WISH TO USE IT based on what he/she are looking for within a mod. Just like all other mods... If you don't like it, don't use it AND be humble (as in QUIET). Now if there was something you feel could be changed about it, or have in-game problems with it, you would then constructively offer suggestions or requests to make improvements. The Comments/Reply sections weren't intended to be your personal journal and talk smack just because YOU don't like it! Apparently after getting downloaded over 16,000 times with over 600 endorsements, your rant obviously isn't shared by everyone else out there. Your reply offers nothing whatsoever, other than wasting a comment space like I have just to rant back. Hopefully future comments can be more constructive or just not said. Thanks!

Just want to tell you, I think this is an awesome mod. I love that it is set up that your actions or lack there of can affect your leveling up. To me that is a great concept. I loved all of the RPG Elder Scroll games, and I think the concept being brought here is well conceived. Thank you for taking so much time and working tirelessly on this mod.

@CyberDanz It's cute to so people using big words like "procrastinate" like they think it means "judge," while it actually means to hold off on doing something.

I'm someone who likes the gain exp and distribute points system this game normally has, and even uses a mod that overwrites Oblivion's levelling system with one like it. Regardless of what djhater says, this looks like cool sh*t, and you deserve recognition for your hard work. I might try it out myself for kicks.

I know this is a longshot, but do you plan on doing this for FO4. I may actually play that game again if you do. This mod makes FO3 and FNV so much more fun. An absolutely must-have if you're gonna play those games

The mod starts adding up player xp on every save reload for no apparent reason.
I found no other way to stop it, than to disable the mod.
Disabling mod/modyfing the player xp/re-enabling mod doesn't work for me.

If anyone knows a way to fix it, I'd really appreciate it.

edit: tried older versions, and the newest that doesn't have this glitch seems to be 2.05 if anyone has the same problem

Setting it to Level up with skills only (and not xp or skills + xp) seemed to fix this issue for me.
Additionally I set the Adaptive Skill Progression option at the bottom of the skills submenu to 0 (as it is a bit bugged sometimes and can result in leveling up skills ridiculously fast).

With those two changes it works perfectly. Did a whole FO3 playthrough in TTW without a bug related to Practice Makes Perfect.

If you have the patience to try again with those settings, it is worth it.

I know htis is ancient and all, but the forum posts are all over the place here, and i dont see exactly what's happening to me.

I'm being a little adventerous and using this with ttw. if thats why, ill be sad and uninstall it, but if there's a workaround that would be great

I'm set to level up with xp only
I have both of the add ons
set to special every 10 levels, max level up in the stratosphere, two perks per level

it starts out fine, but sometime near the beginning of the game, say level 3 or 4, my xp goes haywire and i start leveling up constantly.

This mod does occasionally cause an overflow of exp when changing settings mid-game. The way I've found to fix this (sometimes) is to disable the core mod, then gain xp--- OR use the console to reduce your exp below the threshold for the next level.

The console command I believe is:
      player.rewardxp -100

just replace the number with whatever, make sure its negative

This mod is pretty old but it sounds like a really great idea. However I'm getting a problem in which once I level up once my EXP goes to -28975621 and I can't ever gain any more. Does anyone know what the problem might be?

Hey dude, I know this is old but I'm pretty sure the mod completely disregards XP and only focuses on your 'skill progression'. So you'll only level up once you've levelled up enough skills by using them enough

You can select whether you level up based on skill progression only, XP only, or both combined.

I get that problem when I try to use it with Limitless Stats. Haven't found the culprit among either mod so far, but it's just flat-out listed as incompatible on Limitless Stats' page (which is newer).

This mod is working fine in 2022.
Although it bugs some perks like "here and now" and makes other perks useless, like the one that gives us two more skill points.

Are these bugs very annoying or they are just aesthetic bug? Because I'm playing Dust Simulator and I really want a mod like this.

Actually, I've been poking around in the scripts (trying to figure out if I can fix its compatibility with Limitless Stats) and it factors the perk that gives bonus skill points into the skill level rate calculation. It's hard to see, but it is doing the closest approximation of what it should do in this context.

i have the mod working fine but everytime i load a save a popup shows saying that something else changed the script and that i need to enter "setnumericgamesetting ilevelsperperk 2" after taking the mod out of my load order. after i do what the popup says i get the normal 1 perk per level. im using vortex as my mod manager by the way.

This mod still works pretty fine with TTW 3.3. I still haven´t checked compatiblity with BIg Guns though. The only mod I have realized it is not compatible with is 'Sleep To Level Up - Oblivion-Style Levelling' since this mod decides when to level up and the other one doesn´t properly handles this event and thus the level get reset to one. After removing it, it seems that the couple of levels pending popep up at once so no big loss.

This mod has changed the way I look at NV completely. And YES, it is still working great all this time later.

Truly a hidden and underappreciated gem of a mod.

    Uoud is a real one.

    TRY THIS MOD!!

Anybody know if the 2 perks per level has the glitch/bug with Swift Learning and Here and now perks, like the original xfo 2 perks per level? The old one does not account for Swift learner and when you choose hear and now (first and last perks pick) you don't level up again. I edited the old mod with info from a post on Xodarap777s' page. When I hit level 40 I was getting 6000 +- extra XP and the levels would not stop. Then all my challenges got completed. weird. EDIT: I got my answer for the Here and Now perk. Works perfectly.

    HEY YOU
    Yeah, you. Download this mod.
Honestly, this single mod has brought more entertainment value to my experience than damn near any single mod out there has so far. It's fantastic.
