    Welcome! Please report all bugs here or on Discord!

    Download Corrupt?
    Use this Torrent:

    231 Full installer Torrent on Discord.

    Torrent Clients I recommend using:
    --Deluge: https://deluge-torrent.org/
    -- Or, Qubit Torrent: https://www.qbittorrent.org/

    There are other torrent clients but these are ad free and spyware free, unlike others like BitTorrent or uTorrent which have become compromised with malware. Make sure the torrent reaches 100%, else it will be corrupt.

    About installation:
    JUST EXTRACT THE 7Zip and RUN THE EXE!

    DO NOT TRY TO INSTALL FNC WITH A MOD MANAGER! USE THE EXE!

    220's exe will 4GB Patch New Vegas for you! (And automatically skips this if it's installed.)

    220 Installs the mod to the directory with FalloutNV.exe. Just point it wherever you want it.

    You need 8GB of RAM or More to Run FNC, and Texture Quality set to High or Ultra.

    Mod Organizer 2 Special Install Instructions at this link.
    Remember that your easy mode MO2 install goes like this: Run the EXE from your download folder wherever that is, change the ini setting found below, and that's it. If you want it to be complicated, these instructions are manually unpacking the EXE and doing all that stuff, but it's unnecessary. FNC works just like the DLCs. If it's enabled, cool. If not? It won't hurt anything. So no special hoops are necessary. But that's up to you. I can't tell you how to live your life. You do you.

    And that's it. You're ready! We have OPTIONAL Recommended Mods. Very few Incompatible Mods.

    Use Mod Manager of Your Choice!

    If you are running FNC totally vanilla (no other mods), you don't even need a mod manager.
    Just run using FalloutNVLauncher.exe and under DATA make sure all your boxes are checked.

    I can't seem to get New California to start. Help?

    A -- I installed everything correctly and New Vegas crashes on startup!

    You sure? Check your load order.
    Run like this:

    FalloutNV.esm
    NewCalifornia.esm

    See if it runs now.
    If not, you may have something else wrong with your installation of New Vegas. Check our discord Help channel.

    WE RECOMMEND YOU INSTALL NEW VEGAS CLEAN! NO MODS.

    THEN, RUN NEW VEGAS VANILLA TO MAKE SURE IT WORKS!

    THEN, INSTALL NEW CALIFORNIA.exe, AND MAKE SURE IT WORKS!

    THEN, Install your favourite mods on top of it.

    Remember, New California is HUGE! It's basically a new game!

    Re-install New Vegas, or install a new copy somewhere, or make an MO2 profile. Then, experiment with mods.

    B -- I installed everything correctly and clicked New Game and nothing happens!

    Did you install New Vegas clean, no mod, and run the exe as administrator?

    Are you sure it installed to the right folder?

    Are you sure it installed to the right MO2 mod profile? (See the MO2 instructions above. All you need to do is run the EXE -- that's it. And make sure the below text matches.)

    Go to "C:\Users\"YourUserNameHere"\Documents\My Games\FalloutNV"

    Search for Fallout.ini and Fallout_Custom.ini

    If it says "SCharGenQuest=00102037" replace it with this:

    SCharGenQuest=00AD31FF

    ;SCharGenQuest=00102037 \\this ; is just a "comment" and it is there when you want to uninstall FNC later.

    If you use MO2:
    ini.png?width=783&height=628

    Do the same in your ini configurations.

    Our EXE attempts to do this, but validating install in steam, TTW, and other mods may prevent it, including some antivirus programmes.

    C -- I installed everything correctly and clicked New Game, saw the video, Tackle or Dodge, and Crashed entering the Atrium! (or Black Screen)

    Did you set your Texture Quality to High or Ultra? We haven't found a way to convince New Vegas to use Medium or Low yet. This causes a crash.

    D -- Texture Size is set to High and I just reinstalled everything, and it still won't start!

    If you don't have more than 8GB of RAM in your system, you need a PC with more memory.

    Sorry, there's no way around that. Some systems work better than others.

    We find that installing New Vegas on a Solid State Hard Drives does wonders for performance.

    So does disabling background applications like Browsers and other heavy processes.

    E -- It still won't run!

    Make sure that if you don't have the DLC, you aren't using the DLC Control Plugins. If you are it will cause a crash.

    F -- I just can't install it! I get an error!

    People getting the missing msvcr100.dll and/or NSIS Bin Error are all missing the Microsoft C++ Visual Runtime Library:
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wyDozY5wSd4

    Fix is in the video. It's a common Windows issue.

    This mod has tons of scripted and triggered events, so The console commands MoveToQT, coc, cow, setstage, unlock, resurrect, and placeatme will probably break your quest or game!

    If you used any of these console commands, please reload a save from before you used any of them and continue from there, before reporting a bug.

    If you do have a bug, please describe it and upload your save here at our Discord server https://discord.gg/Cr39CP8 in the public-bug-reports channel. (just drag the file into the chat window).

    A clean install of Fallout New Vegas is recommended.
    For stability and performance reasons, I would suggest you follow this guide (sections 'intro' thru 'base finish'):
    Viva New Vegas modding guide for Fallout New Vegas

    Using the FNC Installer with MO2

    These stability changes seem to work for most people:

    Make these changes to your fallout.ini in Documents, My Games, FalloutNV and then set it to read-only.

    [General]
    bPreemptivelyUnloadCells=1
    bUseThreadedAI=1
    iNumHWThreads=8

    [Menu]
    iConsoleVisibleLines=40
    iConsoleHistorySize=300
    iConsoleFont=2

    [Audio]
    iAudioCacheSize=8192
    iMaxSizeForCachedSound=1024

    [BackgroundLoad]
    bBackgroundCellLoads=1
    bSelectivePurgeUnusedOnFastTravel=1

    @Thaiauxn

    Please re-upload the mod and remove 50% of the empty unused homes, assets, and garbage making Union City, and the majority of surrounding worldpsaces and cells, absolutely unplayable. The engine isnt meant to handle the sheer amount of things you and Radian Helix try to add in the world. The creation engine might, but new vegas is a 14 year old game. Athens Tec is also near unplayable even with 90% of my mods disabled due to the amount of nonsense in the cell(s). My computer can handle fallout 4 on max graphics and even more objects in settlements than it can handle merely being in union city for example. There is NO REASON at all that there needs to be 12 empty, unused, and pointless houses and buildings that-- combined with the ungodly amount of tiny random objects used as mostly unseen decorations in the bars and shops dotted around town. It eats memory the engine already doesn't have and causes so many crashes i ended up quitting ~7 hours into my play-through because i can no longer even go 30 seconds without a crash and absolutely nothing fixes it. The 4gb patch only can do so much and you and your team clearly missed that. I understand its a beta version but its unreal that its this unplayable even all this time later after it left "Project Brazil" wayyyy back when. Its incredibly fun but quickly becomes a post-apocalyptic play-through of a migraine when it crashes more than Stevie Wonder trying to drive a car. Again its very fun and extremely technically and artistically impressive and I would love to see the game in a more stable, and playable state so i can continue the mod and further appreciate the level of time, effort, and detail put into this beyond dlc-sized mod for a game i love just as much.

    Please, for the love of Atom, fix the mod... please...

      Anyone is free to work on this as they see fit.

      Originally the empty buildings were all to encourage other modders in the community to add their own stuff. That obviously never happened so they remain unused. Which while realistic and setting appropriate isn't as fun as it could otherwise be if the map were smaller and more focused.

      I have no intention of going back to this mod until others do so.

    this mod is incredible one of the best i have ever played so far, i love the story and how its told even with its faults it will always be in my mod list seriously more people should play this mod  or al lest know more about it, also i did not realize this mod have new armor or weapons the textures and meshes are incredible and feel very much complete.

    and again i loved the story and the mod, but as a preference idk who made the wiki for this mod but it might be best to update it. ; )

    thank you for the mod

    I don't suppose you would consider uploading a zipped version of the mod would you? The installer is a bit passe by this point. Dumping things directly into data isn't really an ideal solution, and the installer makes it harder to plug and play with a modern mod manager. Second auto running 4GB Patcher also feels kind of redundant. By now I think you could point newcomers to Viva New Vegas before they install FNC. It's regularly updated and goes over the basics like 4GB Patcher. Also 4GB Patcher isn't going to work for the EGS version of the game.

    Now sure SCharGenQuest would still be a concern, but still users can just add it to Fallout.ini themselves, or FalloutCustom.ini with JIP LN.

      To install it to another folder easily all you need to do is copy FalloutNV.exe there, run the installer and then delete it.  You can then just use it with your mod manager.

    How compatible is New California with the Frontier? There are multiple sources that contradict each other on this.

    The NC mod page says they are compatible with no issues, the Frontier’s compatibility document says they are but with a few NC textures being overwritten and the NC incompatibility document says they aren’t because the Frontier causes crashes in NC.

      The mods are "compatible." In that I mean, there is nothing other than the engine being overloaded with memory and number of entries/refs, that should make them break, and that's unlikely without even more mods there. I wrote our compatibility note before Frontier released, because we had signed up to make it so. They wouldn't let us in early to fix any problems, so we said we'd fix it post release. Then it released and they literally had thrown that relationship in the dumpster, so... nah.

      There is currently a crash (see below Runtime Error R6025) but Stewie is right now actually trying to fix that in his mod, which Frontier also uses. I'll post if he manages to fix it.

      Otherwise it just works. If you can... tolerate its presence.

      Collaboration between these mods could'a been so cool man. Could'a been so cool. But they said f*#@ you and here we are. Bummer.

      Thanks for responding and letting me know. I’m going to play through New California when I have some more free time and was considering trying the Frontier on the same save. I’ve played the early stages of NC before and thought it was great!

      Yeah, it’s a shame that the Frontier team chose to mess you around because collaboration could’ve worked out really well and they missed out. I saw someone on a Reddit post mention that they tried to get you to abandon NC, even though it was a 1/3 complete, to just work on their project instead. That sounds pretty stupid honestly.

      If you don’t mind me asking another question, would it still be best to use the included DLC delay plugins, or disable them in favour of a newer alternative like Delay DLC Redux?

      You should ideally stick to the DLC Delay in FNC, as it is scripted to give you your stuff as normal in New Vegas and not randomly, as well as prevent those annoying, asinine activation popups during our intro sequence.

      And yeah, I don't think anyone from the Frontier actively told us to quit, but I saw some conversations between leads like, "lets absorb the Project Brazil team," and, "we'll just make it so hard for them to find anyone to work on the mod they'll quit." Literal quotes, among many more. Was not a good time.

      I don't know when Stewie Tweaks will be updated or if it already has, but the issue was in that mod, and also The Frontier.

      If you have The Frontier installed you need Stewie's overwrite in his mod, which will fix it.

      Now you can make me extremely uncomfortable and worry if I need to call child protective services by loading The Frontier with FNC.

      I'm late to respond but thanks for lmk!  It's nice to know Stewie Tweaks and FNC can now be used together with no issues.  It looks like they uploaded the latest version after the discord post.

      I assume with the Frontier you would just delete their frontier_tweaks.dll since it's an old modified version of Stewie Tweaks that contains the bug.  Haha, it's safe to say if I try it I will be staying away from the worrisome content.

      Seems you got the last laugh in the end though. This mod is by no means perfect, but I find it very enjoyable and admire what it set out to do, while The Frontier is more of a guilty pleasure for me at best.

      I'd have been way happier if it was a phenomenal mod. It sucked to see the community so divided for no good reason.

      There's nothing to laugh about in what happened. It's just heartache. FNV deserved better. The FTF team who weren't responsible for leadership deserved better. The people who volunteered to try to save it, just to be betrayed yet again, deserved better.

      Preventing that from happening again is vitally important to the mod community's health. There are other megamods out there right now trying to pull off what we did, working alone, in an isolated little bubble. The lessons of FNC and FTF were not learned. Community support is critical to preventing that kind of disaster, and working together is the only way to excel. So I'd ask, if you're reading this and wondering what can be done to prevent that philosophy from destroying yet another project?

      • Reach outside your bubble.
      • Help other big projects improve, instead of thinking you can do better from scratch.

      • Collaborate between the big mods freely.

      • Share talent and resources. Don't hoard people in fear they'll be taken away.

      • Institute regular code, writing, and asset reviews.
      • Be transparent with the public and use the opportunity to inform people how it is done and let them give feedback.
      • WORK TOGETHER. It's not a fucking competition!
      • See yourself as whole community. If one goes down, we all lose. It affects us all.

      I checked on the Frontier Discord server if you can delete frontier_tweaks.dll when using the latest version of Stewie Tweaks and the answer was indeed yes.

      I agree it would be better for everyone if more large scale mod developers had a similar mindset to you and helped each other out where possible as a community.  It is evident that this works when you look at the Beyond Skyrim Team and how they have helped smaller scale projects like Beyond Reach and Rigmor of Cyrodiil with assets, there are a number of great Skyrim mods that have benefitted from their help.

    I went ahead and removed all the "Adult" tags from FNC's page. There is nothing in the mod sexually explicit, the violence is equal to New Vegas itself, and the profanity is equal to the base game itself. This "adults only" tag was hiding the page from anyone not logged into Nexus, which is ridiculous.

    Only just got out of the prologue, and I'm not gonna lie. Talked to the siblings for all of 3 minutes, but that still hit harder than it had any rights to do, even if they did skip out on our big game. Especially the sister, she seemed really damn sweet.
