I'm just dropping by to voice my appreciation for this mod. The new item weights are realistic and sensible. I use the updated version (https://www.nexusmods.com/newvegas/mods/62077/?) of this mod since it fixes the glitch with bottle cap and bobby pin weight.

Really hate to necro the ever-loving s#*! out of this mod, but is there any way to add weights to weapon mods using this system? (I'm taking about the misc items, not adding weight to the modded weapons) I've been messing about with the file in FNVEdit for a bit and I have a base-level understanding of it, but I can't seem to get these weights working. Any helps would be appreciated.

    Cheers.

From what I see in the .esp file, you must add a new entry to one of the different RecallListForms (one of those accompanied by numbers), and then add that same entry into RecallListDB.

The entry, of course, would be that of the weapon mod itself. I mean, that's one way to do it. The other is just to copy each weapon mod into a new plugin and edit their weights directly, since not many mods edit the weight of weapon mods (as opposed to tokenroaches' example of a bottle of booze).

The bug in the latest version - the one causing 10 pound bottlecaps and 40 pound bobby pins - is caused by the fact the script reads the form list of form lists in order and applies the weight adjustments in descending order - which works well. However, a form list sorts its contents by formid - and because the form lists containing the items to have weights changed for aren't in order, you get odd weight changes. It's easy enough to fix - I opened up xEdit and re-ordered the form lists by hand. I could probably upload the fixed version (if I get permission).

I really hope you can. This is the only mod of its kind (One that is compatible with things like True Wasteland Economy), and I feel a pain in my heart every time I see 3 pound shotgun shells.. Heck, why can't we just have an MCM option where we could tweak the values to our preference, since Obsidian screwed up item sizes so badly?..

T.b.h. I do not think the original author is coming back to fix this seeing his last activity is more then a year ago. You could release your fix as a patch or bug fix with the clear description that you remove your mod if the original author requests it.

I posted a patch for his backpack mod, he was cool with it and incorporated my fix into the core. He's a good guy.

Well then. I'll do just that.

      Please stand by...

EDIT: I present a bugfix by yours truly: http://www.nexusmods.com/newvegas/mods/62077

I would never want to pull credit from the original author, but I really hope more people download your fix if they're instantly turned away by this particular error. I say that because this mod is sorely needed, since ammo weight is a huge problem in New Vegas on Hardcore Mode, but unfortunately 40 lb bobby pins make it virtually unplayable.

      I know that feeling mate.

At the moment, the downloads aren't looking too flash. I need awareness.

Is a bobby pin intended to weigh 40 pounds? I must have done something wrong...

LOL I know what you mean my pre-war money suddenly weighted 30 pounds...

For some reason almost all items weigh 30 units (some are lighter, some are heavier, some are almost-normal weight but the number is still damn massive). And the carried weight became 9912/195. lol.
A cigarette is heavier than my character's outfit. Oh well.

Nicely optimized script, compatible with the Pack Rat perk, and removes the frustrating "when in doubt, use 1 lb" developer laziness. I normally stay away from NVSE mods because they are often bloated, but I'll keep it installed just for this one mod if it's as good as initial testing indicates

I was just starting to make a more brute-force mod like this for partially my own use (after a long back and forth between games offended again by "weight 1, value 1" items that show a simple lack of thought or care), as I decided to check and found this.

This mod is everything it promised to be, and finally done the right way. I guess there are a few missed opportunities, like e.g. giving various balls their regulation weights, but this is due to how the mod works, and I reordered some items for my own purposes.

One thing I think isn't exclusive to my tastes is meat weight. I've always thought of meat as a bulk item, "3 gecko meats" as 3 lbs of gecko meat. Turning meat into a steak it's quite easy to lose half the weight, mostly to trimming, and you'll be able eat even less if you eat it raw (FWIW: raw meat sounds much more intimidating than it is, it's not as safe and less of it is edible, but otherwise, nothing all that special). It also irked me in the original game that you'd only get "3 meats" from a 500-lbs animal, but that's clearly more of a balance thing.

This needs more endorsements because it's fantastic! No longer can I get away with lugging around a meth lab in my backpack. If I had to make a suggestion, it'd be to incorporate this with MCM and add sliders to different weights, but as it is right now, it's an absolutely superb addition to my Project Nevada playthrough!

I'm using Project Nevada, and after trying Arwen's Realism Tweaks, decided I would choose different mods to accomplish a simpler version of her mod. I downgraded my carry weight to a more realistic level (120 pounds at most with 10 Strength) and your mod makes a HUGE difference on how many things I can carry. Thank you so much for this. If I'm not using your Backpack mod, it's only because I believe it would work better if the weight in New Vegas was revamped to work as volume instead, where a backpack would make the difference by giving you more space to put your stuff in.
