...wow, I can't believe it was that easy. I haven't had CTD problems with the intro and outro, but they HAVE been annoying me by being unskippable and forcing me to sit through them when all I want is to get on with things. I've made a script that doesn't auto-skip, but lets the player skip by pressing Escape. I'm apparently retarded though, and probably wouldn't have figured out how to do it without this script for reference, so thanks.
Perhaps you would be good enough to share that At least you were able to figure out how to do it by looking at this script which I cannot do. Or maybe explain to me in a PM what to do. Like you, I do not get crashes but find them annoying.
I'm working on a plugin that'll allow any of the DLC intros or outros to be skipped with the Escape key. One problem occurs; well okay, there are two problems, the first being that I don't have a save handy for testing the Old World Blues part... (the only saves I've got, OWB was completed long ago) but the other is, I'm not quite sure whether to release it as a single unified plugin that requires all four of the main DLCs, (GRA has no intro or outro to worry about) or make individual plugins. Me personally, I don't see a difference - Wrye Flash merges them into a single patch either way. But whether someone who doesn't use Flash would prefer one or the other... That's the question.
(Incidentally, it turns out that it took a little more work than what was in this plugin... This is fine for preventing the intro from running at all, but making it user-skippable took a bit more effort. Still, this gave me the inspiration I needed.)
Frankly, I think a unified one makes more sense and would be less work. There is a mod which I have used which permits skipping of the OWB ending scene. It is pretty buggy but I cleaned it up a bit using FNVEdit and it actually works. What I do is save just before I am ready to leave the Sink, activate the mod, reload, exit the sink and after the cheering I save again, exit and deactivate the mod. In any event, I am happy there is someone out there motivated to do this. None of the ending slideshows are ones I want to see more than once and it would be nice to have the option to skip. OWB is particularly horrendous. I found that DLC funny the first few times and it has finally grown old and I dread even going there and only do it to respec my traits. The developers got carried away trying to show how cute and clever they are in my opinion. So Obsidian!
So I gave up on the idea of having the cutscenes skippable with the Escape key.
I used the Attack control instead.
The problem was that if I used the Escape key, it worked; but it would also bring up the main menu once the new area was loaded. Attack worked well as an alternative.
Do one for Dead Money next, apparently is a common problem. Apparently Lonesome Road was the only one that doesn't have this problem; in other words, the only one that Bethesda did correctly. It's a good idea, just need one for the other two just incase.
Turned out i didn't even need this, LoL Introducing slideshow was freezing for me, but I noticed that I;ve been always in TPP view. After switching to first person, everything went smoothly. Ending slideshow worked even without that. Maybe this will become handy sometime in the future - thanks for sharing, anyway
I'm currently having trouble with the OWB ending. When I try to leave the Think Tank after killing our floaty friends I get a CTD, any chance of a fix?
It has been awhile since there is any mod activity but I wanted to ask whether you are still going to look into making a mod which allows the player to skip all of the cutscenes. The one for skipping the intro to OWB works great, but I would love to be able to skip the ending cutscene for that and all the other DLCs. Watching once is enough.
