Pleased to report that this is also useful for Fallout 3 - I had to rename the texture files to match 3's data, but I've had zero disembodied eyes since then. Thanks!
I feel like pulling my hair out. What did you do to make it work? I have changed the mesh file names like you suggested, but I don't know the FO3 data to match it to. I changed eyessetoneblue.nif to dogmeateyes.nif just to see, and his eyes still popped out in combat.
Thanks for sharing this mod. Once you notice this bug in the vanilla game it's really hard to ignore it. I've been playing with this mod for a while now and seems to have fixed the issue.
You know, I never even knew this was a thing until I grabbed a mod that lets me take Roxie out of X-8 in Old World Blues. I mean, obviously, I've seen this bug happen before, but for me, it was so rare that I just shrugged it off as "New Vegas being New Vegas again" and went on my way.
But, having a dog companion means you're always noticing things like that. More specifically, it's (no pun intended) one of the more 'in your face' bugs when traveling with a trusty K9 at your side.
(As for why Roxie and not Rex, well... One, it just feels wrong to abandon her there in X-8, even if she does, in an end slide, get a good ending. Two, Rex never really felt like he belonged to me. He was always the King's dog and I was just borrowing him for a time. Three, I honestly like the OWB Cyberdog chassis more, mostly because it looks more like the classic science-fiction where you'd expect a police dog with cybernetic enhancements would probably be equipped with their own police lights. That, and I like the fact that OWB cyberdogs can do that whole 'sonic bark' attack, so I'm less likely to hit my dog with stray rifle fire.)
As a result of picking up Roxie, I realized just how annoying this little bug was, because it makes the dogs look downright creepy, like some sort of twisted alien creatures. So, I've grabbed this because I heard good things about it working well.
Well since there is no Dogmeat in FNV, I assume your using some sort of TTW mod? Make sure you pick up the FO3 version too then.
Keep in mind FNV mods are made for FNV assets, if someone has ported DM and included the broken assets or you are using FO3 stuff then its not going to work.
Yes, but he might be asking to upload it on that site. I have had people contact me to use my dog mods in that context even though it was not to post on nexus lol.
