hi , im stuck in one part of the tutorial ( "In UV image editor, delete the image and open the face texture.") , what image should i delete ? is it the stock texture ? thks
I made it with no errors this time . The face looks brilliant on GECK. I now have issues with neck texture not showing . Head just flys above body. But since my mug is in game i am optimistic i ll figure this out .
To get the facial morphs, you'll have to use conformator and do some hex-editing. There's a tutorial made by throttlekitty in the oblivion section. Some headparts, like the lips, have to remain at the original position or conformator won't find them. Without doing that, you will have no eye lid movement, no lip movement, no expressions... your face will behave like a mask. But be warned, it's a long way to go.
I have added a picture that I hope will be helpful.
You need to select the material of the FaceGen head. Name it something you will remember.
Select the stock head then assign the new material to it.
As for your faces not assigned..
Did you copy bone weight before joining the two heads together?
That is the first thing to check, however I did have the same issue with one of my heads. (I think it was outside the parameters for a good weight copy)
If you can delete the faces without losing any vertexes, go ahead and do so. Then make new faces to fill the gaps.
Select only the faces that you've just made and uv unwrap them.
Use uveditor to move them aside for the moment. Select all vertexes, then reposition the new faces so that they fill (exactly) the gaps in the complete face mesh.
Cut Snake your tutorial made me trying to put my face in game.. If u dont mind I would like some help mate concerning blender.
How u dublicate the material from stock face and apply it to new face. When exporting to nif with ur configuration it pops me error that some faces from head are not assigned to any body part. (i skipped previous step to go there )The thing is i selected the vertices highlighted (which is all) and assigned them all to head bone (for testing )but still same error.

I will pm you the nifs and some screen caps to add if u want to the tutorial
Glad it's working for you now.
I would suggest looking at your new ead in nifskope and making sure the neck had a dedicated texture.
If you want, you could send me a copy of your nif file and texture and I will look at if for you. PM me if that's how you want to go.
Once you're completely done, if you like you can add a screencap of your new character. It would be cool to fill my images tab with the new faces.

Thanks for the info and link. I will check it out shortly.
I am surprised at how difficult this all seems to be seeing as how it would be quite popular I am sure, if it wasn't.
If there was some way to make FaceGen skin the head in the same way Fallout does this could all be avoided.
But be warned, it's a long way to go.

It should now export.
Hope this helps.
Use edit mode to remove the vertexes you don't need. I am hopeful to make a video version of the tutorial but do not have the resources at the moment.

How do you select the area of the neck that I need to delete? It looks like your in edit mode on the tutorial but I'm not sure
