It is listed as a requirement, so yes. There are of course ways to "extract" the CaliberX dependency, using some sort of utility -sadly, I do not know the specifics on that method. I just recreated the weapons I wanted in the GECK, also eliminating the dependency. But that is probably a convoluted and inefficient method -especially if you want the whole weapon package.
Do you have a GECK recreation of the H&K G36? I tried salvaging the code from this mod and it didn't work. I don't know how to use GECK, sadly, otherwise I would do it myself.
On the off chance someone reads these, where exactly can i get CaliberX version bullets?, the guns now use like 5.45x39, which cant be bought from any vendor.
Yeah gee thanks, my question still stands if you had read it properly, where can you buy the different ammo that comes with the mod?, No vendor sells it, and the "Stalker store" in freeside doesnt sell me anything, i cant even get a prompt for sale.
This mod doesn t need xcaliber. Xcaliber is old and unsupported other than without a patch it s useless. So if you remove Xcaliber patch for this mod you ll play with standard ammo .
Late response, but in case anyone still has this question, you get the custom ammo for the weapons from a vending machine mod from CaliberX, its a secondary extra mod that you install along side CaliberX, the vending machine shows up next to the Gun Runners shop.

It's on the freeside (king's), it's in the general location when you confront Orris is G.I Blues. The door has woods in front of it (like any inaccesible areas)
I loved the variety in this mod, sadly I do have some issues with the price range for some of these weapons and armors. They feel awfully expensive, which makes me worry they might be a bit game-breaking.

Xcaliber is old and unsupported other than without a patch it s useless.
So if you remove Xcaliber patch for this mod you ll play with standard ammo .
