Just coming by to say how much I've enjoyed this mod over the past few years. (A decade now, wew) It's one of the armor replacer mods I always try to get whenever I start a playthrough of New Vegas and I can't say many other armor replacer mods capture the same feeling as this one.
It's one of the things that I feel has really killed the modding scene lately where too many people are concerned and trying too hard to have their mods and other mods be "lore-friendly"; Which seems really silly when you actually think about it for a moment. If you want something to be lore friendly then why are you downloading mods to begin with? If you want lore friendly, just play the game vanilla.
What happened to the modder? I thought the armor was cool, tired of seeing NCR getting owned by the Fiends with better weapons. At least with this, they may have a better chance at surviving.
personally i feel this armor totally ruins the NCR aesthetic and isn't lore friendly in the slightest. They've turned from desert rangers into generic future cops. It doesn't make ANY sense that every random NCR trooper is decked out in full, high tech, well made and incredibly strong combat armor. They're BARELY hanging on to their control over parts of the mojave as it is. I'm actually super confused as to why this has so many endorsements, but to each their own I guess.
Usually I run this with Caesar's New Regime. It just makes the stakes seem higher. As well, good armor doesn't make up for low morale, bad logistics, and political threats.
beyond that it isn't lore friendly for every ncr trooper in the wasteland to be armed to the teeth. it's in the game itself with main characters talking about how they're understaffed, under equipped, etc. the ncr itself is rich and powerful, but the resources they sent to keep their presence in new vegas was pretty minimal.
I'm honestly not super into the mod, besides the baller helmets, as giving the NCR the more generic combat armor shoulders and chestpiece ruins their unique silhouette for me...
BUT, this mod deserves huge recognition, both for looking pretty good, and for being one of the highest Endorsed armor mods on the Nexus, despite being lost in 2011. Huge fucking props, and damn, I wish I liked it more.
it looks great but at the same time part of the heart of the story was how the main troop in the ncr sent to the mojave was ill equipped, with some not even having quality armor or rifles. their main force was being used to guard special interest groups with money like brahmin barons. that's another part of why they had such a hard time in vegas is even though ncr is powerful and a growing nation with resources the corruption was so deep after tandi died that they became another decaying america.
just one thing, these armors lack the belt and suspenders that attach ammo pockets and a lil bag on the back to store small items and stuff, only to make them look more like a military force and not like some space time soldier
Whos care yo. Modders are make mods for everyone for free already so should thanks them and suggest or help them find bugs Not Demand Modders To Do Like What You Wish. Go away and make mods suit yourself
I think a lore-friendlier version would be to have their original khaki uniforms underneath the armor instead of the burlap sack variation. And to make it more immersive, have clothing like chest rigs like in NCR Rearmed or NCR Overhaul
