Attention MO2 2.1 Users!! Something has changed in the way MO2 handles FOMOD installers. This is affecting the install for Project Nevada. You can follow the manual installation instructions for MO mods, and bring this to the attention of the MO2 devs. It is not a problem with PN, and PN will not be updated to fix this issue
Before you post a comment, check the FAQ or have a look at the SEARCHABLE forum thread to see if your question has been answered already.
If you're looking for item codes or don't know where something is, we have a wonderful Data Sheet with all of that info on it.
If you have questions about custom patches, take a look at our mostly comprehensive Modder's Guide.
Don't forget to check out the Project Nevada - Extra Options page for all new updates and patches. Bug fixes, new content, and more control over your game included.
If you have a feature request, take it to the Mod Requests thread. Project Nevada is not in active development, and feature requests will be ignored. You are much more likely to find someone to make it on the Mod Requests thread.
Please do not post your load order in the comments. Use an external service like pastebin.
For people with the no-menu error for Rebalance, get this fix.
can someone help me? my fallout nv crashes on start up, stupid fuc** bethesda jank, I dont even have that many mods installed, just the basics. Ive got fallout charcter overhaul, essential visual enhancements and of course project Nevada, I even installed new Vegas stutter remover, so I dont understand what the problem is? These are the most endorsed mods on nexus and i've always used them, fallout nv is just a buggy game. Im also using an enb btw. All my favourite youtubers use an ENB and it makes their games look next gen.
"other people" You mean nearly all prominent modders and even the original creators of this mod? yeah do not use this. Viva New Vegas has a section on replacing every function in this mod with other actually working mods
The problem is, it's pointless, Its out dated, clunky, and is known to break other mods that have nothing to do with it. if you look at most posts talking about bugs they almost ALWAYS say "Project Nevada is in my load list but I just KNOW its not causing problems cause I like it and stuff I like is good." Not even considering as someone else said there are far better looking and compatible mods that do the same thing. I get the nostalgia of this one but stop posting bugs about this mod on other mods guys. they shouldn't HAVE to fix their mod to run with ancient broken trash. At a certain point you have to wonder why its even on the mod page still.
"THIS MOD IS OUTDATED AND BROKEN. IT WAS LAST UPDATED IN 2014 AND IS IRRELEVANT IN 2024. Outdated, inefficient, bloated and broken. Most features have modern alternatives (listed below). Causes save bloat due to continuous quest stages being triggered, and some features either don't work or break the game (chargeable weapons, lethal headshots and the stealth/AI changes).
"Although it may seem counterproductive to install a bunch of small mods to replace one big mod, these alternatives are all more efficient and performance friendly. They are 100% safe to use and actually work, unlike Project Nevada"
So they are saying the alternative to installing a neat package like PN in about 5 minutes is installing 12 standalone mods each having around 5 required mods themselves? Yeah I'm not gonna spend 30 hours modding this game to get it to work sorry, I don't have that kind of time anymore. PN will do just fine... Even with all its flaws!
Hey all! Just stopping by to tell you as one of the original authors of this mod...
DO NOT USE THIS MOD
I'm very proud of having been a part of this mod. It's even landed me job opportunities! But it belongs in a museum, NOT in your load order. It's outdated, inefficient, buggy, and may even potentially break your save game.
If you won't listen to anyone, listen to someone who actually worked on the damn thing and is still proud of it.
i appreciate your warnings but PN still has the only good helmet overlay mod out there, the other one is ugly as s#*!, would you be able to help me figure out how to apply the overlays to other helmets added by different mods? I found the form lists in GECK that reference the different helmets, but I cant figure out how they apply the overlay texture to the helmet, its a t45 helmet i want to put a overlay on, if you could shed some light on how this "PNxCVisorOverlay01T45OrderedList" actually knows to put that specific overlay texture on specifically the t45 helmet i could probably figure the rest out myself, thanks for working on this mod!
After years i came back to play FNV and automaticaly instaled PN as allways ... sadly as much i loved this mod i must say its prety outdated and clunky .. there are few small mods that can take care of the stuff for you and be better and faster .. if im not in the mid play i would totaly uninstall PN and use the small mods/fixes instead ...sadly thats not posible mid playthru.
Examples of the mods: https://www.nexusmods.com/newvegas/mods/66666 - Sprint , Bullet time etc
if you only install the core module it doesn't "break your game", i also uncheck everything except the visor overlay, health visuals, primary needs sounds, and grenade hotkey because i use the standalone version of cyberware and no other grenade hotkey mod will allow me to use the icon for the two emp grenade implants while also allowing me to the cookable grenades feature from stewies tweaks and works with iHUD. ive gotten a save file over 250 hours while also using the forbidden NVAC that apparently causes save corruption yet i only crash every few hours at most. i have 400 mods and 200 active plugins, never had a save reach a point of being unplayable, occasionally there's random inconsistently occurring bugs that require me to relaunch the game to fix but thats the reality if you dont wanna exclusively follow guides for every mod you install. consistent crashes are not hard to identify the cause of and fix if you know what you're doing
No, it's been nearly 11 years since it was last updated and many of the developers have moved on from modding, also, it would need to be rewritten from the ground up now.
The mod is fantastic. Adds tons of new features to FNV.
DO NOT LISTEN TO THE PEOPLE WHO INSTALL 300+ MODS.
If you want to experience modded FNV, without installing rebalance mods, faction mods - Project Nevada is your choice. Usually people who got beef with PN don't like it because it crashes their game. Sorry, but it's not my problem that you've installed tons of mods that are not compatible with PVN due to rebalance changing (TBH, they are not compatible with themselves). Imagine, you can change balance settings easily, without installing new mods.
Well to the mod itself. Project Nevada adds tons of new features to the game, like vision overhaul, new weapons, new armor, cybernetics, hotkeys and rebalance menu, that you can set how you want, and whenever you want. Mod adds lore friendly items that you can use, as well as some interesting features as heat vision and etc. Only people who got beef with Project Nevada are people who cannot play with it because "eeeeew new instant headshot mod cannot work because of it, so i cannot play with it, so i will trash it" (tho you can change headshot multiplier in the mod settings. still you got my point)
To the people who hates PN, because it's "too old, and unsupported". Why do you say that I need to install about 7 different mod to get the same experience? And some of them are not nexus. Just assemble them all into the one mod.
Project Nevada still will be my TOP 1 mod for NV. And it will be my necessary mod for every NV playthrough.
Echonian, No. The game did get updated, well, the script extenders. It didn't get "worse", it's always been buggy, crashy, performance obliterating, and inefficient. But back then all mods were.
"How exactly could instability be growing on a mod which is built on a game that hasn't been updated since longer than the mod has been out?"
Here's how:
PN relies on xNVSE -- and while New Vegas itself isn't being updated, xNVSE is being updated and improved, constantly. Additionally, other fundamental mods/mod sets such as New Vegas Heap Replacer, Stewie Tweaks, and more modern (and more cleanly/tightly written) rebalance mods like Lone Star are (almost certainly) incompatible with PN, as well.
There are also mods which do what PN did, but which are still actively maintained and kept compatible with the the fundamental mods mentioned; Just Assorted Mods and others.
Not to knock Project Nevada or its devs -- it was pioneering work, in its day. But because it hasn't been maintained for over a decade now, its day is long gone.
> Not to knock Project Nevada or its devs -- it was pioneering work, in its day. But because it hasn't been maintained for over a decade now, its day is long gone. EXACTLY! No offense taken at all. We did really cool stuff back then. But again this was like, almost a decade and a half ago. Better things have come since that do things much better. I've even been remaking original Project Nevada weapons for my own mod.
I will say this quote until I'm blue in the face: IT BELONGS IN A MUSEUM, NOT YOUR LOAD ORDER
Mate ,listen to the guys who did PN ... other NVSE plugins changed so much and aded so much functions meantime ,that half of the PN runs in vain and the other half cost you much more than it should ...
You need most of the NVSE plugins like Johny Guitar, Stewies Tweaks etc, anyway for other mods and just because they'll fix the game and its code alot and gives you miriads of options to tweak your game with no need to know s#*! about .ini's because you'll have Tweak button in game pause menu ..i was sceptical too ,but novadays i allways choose to install 7-8 NVSE plugins you should install everitime anyway and few small mods like VUI and JAM rather than PN which was made in times when nobody dreamed about functions that NVSE plugins do now.
It seems the problem i described here is caused by the city of new vegas and the lod things. Solution was "Impostors and LOD Flicker Fix" While I am happy for everyone who this mod works for, i can confidently say that this mod does make the game unplayable for me. I have installed the mod with the Mod Loader and also installed Stutter Remover. However, with this mod installed, I can travel to Goodsprings, look at the village and see countless object flickering, being reloaded over and over again while my framerate drops to 6. This is not acceptable for me.
there are so many better up to date alternatives to project nevada (which is BROKEN and will bloat your save), i don't know why people insist on using this, doomed playthrough
There is really only one thing that I sorely miss from this mod; which is the chargeable plasma weapons, specifically the chargeable Plasma Disruptor pistol, which I find invaluable for Enclave Officer characters. Now I have Plasma Plus mod which adds the same model under the moniker of the G86 but it is a shadow of the little mod included in PN.. Is there any standalone version of the Chargeable Energy Weapons mod? If not.. Why not?! Because I found it unbelievably satisfying being able to expend a whole MF cell in one enormous plasma explosion with the Q35 and indeed my beloved "G86" Pistol.

USE THIS GUIDE TO REPLACE IT COMPLATELY WITH NEWEST MODS

Life imitates art I suppose...
This a bug? Load order I tried to change but doesn't seem to change anything.
BECAUSE IT IS AN 11 YEARS OLD MOD THAT IS BLOATED AND BUGGED, AND DOESN'T USE ANY NEW FUNCTIONS ADDED THROUGH THE 11 YEARS OF NV MODDING BETWEEN 2014 AND 2025, WHICH MAKES IT SO MANY FEATURES DON'T WORK OR BREAK THE GAME AND THE MOD IS COMPATIBILE WITH LITERALLY NOTHING??

Such as, I like the tackling mechanic from Project Nevada, but I don't like it enough to risk f*#@ing up my save file.
Examples of the mods:
https://www.nexusmods.com/newvegas/mods/66666 - Sprint , Bullet time etc
https://www.nexusmods.com/newvegas/mods/67870 - Helmet Overlay
https://mod.pub/falloutnv/20-enhanced-vision - Night vision etc
https://www.nexusmods.com/newvegas/mods/66992 - Explosive Entry
JIP LN NVSE,Johny Guitar, Stewie tweaks and similar NVSE plugins are great way to easy allow lot of things and function via the new Tweak option menu
As i sayd , if i could i would uninstal PN my self, but hours and progress invested in this playthru are just too much to do so.

Although considering you ignored nearly everyone, you probably don't even know how to read.
Are there operating system problems or such causing that?
If it's still working well but just isn't compatible with as many newer mods, that's a separate issue that still lets you choose between this or them.
