Is there any fix on planet earth that lets windows 10 have access to the console in this game? I've tried all the instructions here and still no console in game.
@Tylira I doubt this is the problem.. Try going to "Documents->My Games->Fallout NV-> open the 'Fallout' and 'FalloutPrefs' config files and press 'CTRL+F' and search 'console' you should get a code saying bAllowConsole make sure it = 1 . Then save and try that. If not go Start->Run-> type regedit go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESYSTEMCurrentControlSetServicesi8042prtParameters. there should be OverrideKeyboardSubtype with a type of REG_DWORD and a value of 2.Set the value to 0 and reboot. If all that doesnt work make sure u have my most up to date tutorial. Thanks
oh man..... nobody gave you good answer here? sorry bro. theres an alternative console access via mod. the mod is called "alternative console access", its the one with a hat, whenever you wear it it opens the console but theres a shortcut key, "press alt + enter". i dont recommend using the hat in your inventory because it wont let you get out of console window, just use the shortcut key. this mod that im talking about i think doesnt exist here. i think.
thank you so much bro i follow the instructions carefully and it works now i can play console on my laptop. Hate those ehome stuff goes to much pain now it gone.
@pottman There was no reason to thumb down my file. This is just for the people who need this info and can easily find it here instead of googling it. You stated 'The file didn't do what the description implied' the description does not say 'this will work' its just showing what worked for me and may work for other people.
Oh it's not a technical thing really. Obsidian put a code in that disables achievements if you open the console with the ~ key in a normal game. You have to quit and restart the program to re-enable achievements. I was just wondering if this disabled them too, or if it was a way around the block.
Instead of removing windows components and modding your game (which is probably heavily modified if your on this site!) Just switch from Controller to Keyboard (Disable 360 Controller) and low an behold the console works perfectly. Re-enable Keyboard once your done editing the game and PLAY ON! Remember just TEMPORARILY DISABLE CONTROLLER no editing required.

You cannot bring up console with a controller plugged in when booting new vegas.
