Exactly what I was looking for, minimal and works perfectly in TTW. Thanks AcidBlood.

Hopefully this awesome mod will be recreated for FO4.

Let me just say that i tried ALL possible scopes in both new vegas nexus and F3 nexus, and after four years, this one is still the best for me. It's by far the most practical scope out there! Great job, man!

After installing this mod per the instructions, including the manually-created ArchiveInvalidation.txt file, it simply did not work- I still had the vanilla scope only.

After struggling to make this mod work for over 5 hours, I finally found two issues:

    1. The instructions here on where to place ArchiveInvalidation.txt seem to be erroneous. Everything else I read, and the utility mod that writes a full Archive Invalidation file for you, indicate that the file belongs in the main FNV directory .../Steam/Steamapps/Common/Fallout New Vegas, not in the /Data subfolder. In any case, creating this file still did not make the mod work regardless of which folder I put it in.

    2. My problem was a previous mod overriding this one- "No Scope Wobble" was somehow preventing this mod from working, even though there are no texture files in No Scope Wobble. Once I de-activated no Scope Wobble, this mod instantly began working, with no ArchiveInvalidation.txt file whatsoever.

So now, I'm in search of an anti-wobble mod that won't kill scope crosshair replacers such as this mod.

EDIT: Found the solution! Delete the 5 or 6 scope nif files that No Scope Wobble drops in .../Data/Meshes/Interface/HUD. Now, the wobble-eliminating game setting is active, but I have the visible scope crosshairs I need from this mod. Woot!

may i suggest adding optional downloads that replace varmint and hunter rifle textures without the need to go renaming files? that would be very handy indeed.

...i seem to have the same problem as EvilOssie, checked and then unchecked archiveinvalidation...changes nothing...
