Well, I'm still not particularly good at texturing, but this is from waaay back when I was just starting, and still even needed a glass to draw a circle. Whereas nowadays, after much practice, I can also use a bottle, or a vitamin tube, etc ;)
Edjt: it's also from back in the day when the "lore police" guys on the site were getting majorly butthurt if anything doesn't look all dented and rusted like it spent the last 200 years in salt water or something. So this is my best attempt at trying to make it look all rusted, in an age when my skills were not quite up to that task.
I really should redo some of my older crap. Problem is, I made so much crap back then, that it's a task on par with cleaning the fabled Augean stables :p
Edit: oh, that guy. Well, if he or anyone else has a machete, it will be replaced. Can't say I paid attention to exactly what weapon he packs, but if it's a machete, it should get replaced.
Well, the short and skinny version is that while the mesh does replace the old one, the texture is actually split into blade and handle for ease of retexturing, so they are unique. Anyway, the ESP really just sets the 1stPersonMachete record to point at the mesh as it is, instead of trying to apply the (wrong) 1stPerson textures to it, like it does for the built in one.
Why does this need an .esp? It looks like a pure replacer so I should only need the .nif and .dds files I would think. Unless you created unique paths and names for the models and textures, but it doesn't look like you did :/
