Hey guys, just want to pop in after all this time to say holy crap its still being used!
I sadly lost the source code to the program itself but so long as you guys are getting this to work then I am eternally happy! This was made around the launch of NV when we didn't even have a creation kit. I literally reversed engineered esp files just to get it to work. 14+ years later and you'll have to forgive me in not wanting to do that again lol.
For those who've asked and will likely ask: you are free to use this to make your own radio station mods and distribute them freely as you wish. Just uh, be careful with copyright, mkay?
I'm going crazy at this point because no matter what I try I cannot get it to run with MO2. I managed to get it to run with my game once, then had an issue with the songs skipping, so I tried loading through MO2 following rubenour's instructions but now the songs simply don't play. I swear I'm following the original author's instructions to a T and I know how to mod.
Clearly the mod is running because the radio works, but instead of the songs playing, there's silence. So clearly it's an issue with mod not reading the sound files properly, but I have no idea how to fix it.
If anyone has literally any idea on what to do, please help me out. I've tried all the troubleshooting I could.
So can this mod be used to allow someone to make their own 'Mark Morgan Classic Fallout Soundtrack Radio' or something of the sort? That was a mod I hoped somebody knowledgeable can implement. Personally, I'm not a fan of mods that add classic fallout track, mostly due to my own differing personal preferences of when and where those tracks will place.
I figured a dedicated radio that either gives a rotation or selectable prompt of the twenty-four FO1/FO2 tracks to play with lossless quality until you shut off the radio, would be great!
Do you think this mod can help a modder try this eventually (maybe I can try in future or submit a request).
Hey! Maybe it's just cause I'm running Tale of Two Wastelands and something is conflicting that I'm totally unaware of or maybe I have to start a new game, but I can't seem to get this mod to run no matter what I do. I see it's loading the ESP when I start the game but that's about it.
I tried manually installing it to the game directory, I tried installing it through the manual method in ModOrganizer, running the generator as admin, and I've retried all the instructions twice to no avail. I'm kinda out of ideas.
If anyone's got suggestions (or alternate mods) I'd love some help :(
Works flawlessly, super happy to have my own custom playlist on the radio station now. To anyone having trouble getting this to work: don't overcomplicate it. The only time I had any issues was when I listened to the advice of other commenters instead of following the mod author's instructions.
For example, the "number of tracks" should be exactly the number of songs YOU have added to the radioextend folder. NOT your songs + the base game songs + any extras. Just the number YOU have added. Otherwise you'll get silence playing sometimes as the radio tries to play tracks that don't exist. The mod author is pretty clear about this, so it was my own fault for listening to the comments.
Anyway, fantastic mod, this has added so much joy to my new playthrough!
Mod seems to work very well, despite being older than any of the DLC packs. (install manually following modder's advice, Vortex screws it up) However, I'm frustrated with the descriptions of the extra tracks.
The Include Country Tracks options says "Adds 5 songs that are found mostly on Radio Mojave to NVR. These songs are strictly country western songs that do not fit the general playlist of NVR. This effectively merges these two stations."
I assume the modder means Mojave Music Radio, but I have no clue why they would add just five songs and not list them. There are eleven songs on MMR that do not play on Radio New Vegas. If only five songs are added to RNV, which ones? Why write "This effectively merges these two stations," if most of the station's unique music is not added? If all of the songs from MMR are actually included, why write "Adds 5 songs" instead of "adds all songs"? If my goal is to have all of the official music on one station, how would I know which five songs have been added and which are still exclusive to MMR?
I'm curious to know what ten songs are included in the "Blues Tracks" option. I assume it's the same ten songs on the Mysterious Broadcast, since most of those came from Gomorrah, but I haven't heard any play on RNV since installing.
For the love of all that is holy someone tell me how I can install this with Mod Manager 2 if even possible I'm so sick of the constant errors and muted music. EDIT: Apparently I have to add the esp file into the Mods folder for Mod Manager 2, but I have no esp file whatsoever. I'm desperate at this rate
Since this tool does not have any dependencies, and the only file generated is an ESP, I think the way with the least amount of advanced setup is just doing it manually:
Download via "Manual download"
Unpack the archive in a folder that is not associated with either MO2 or the game itself (just to avoid confusion)
Add the music files you want to add, essentially follow the installation instructions in the description
Run the tool
In MO2 click on the left pane and select "create empty mod" (if you do not click empty space then it is found under the heading "All Mods")
Name your mod, then right-click on it and select "open in explorer"
Create folders "Sound\songs\radionvextend" and optionally "Sound\songs\radiognr" if you selected to add the FO3 GNR songs (which you will have to add manually to that folder, see "GNR Radio Importation" in the description )
Move all the MP3 and OGG files from radionvextend (and radiognr) to their new destination
Same with the generated ESP file
Enable the mod in MO2 and enable the ESP
You could skip steps seven through nine, move the entire "Sound" folder, and then clean it by deleting all the non-music files, but that might just be the same amount of work (or you could simply leave the files in there, like a common wasteland savage would do).
I experimented with adding the tool to MO2 executables so it can access the virtual folder, but since it does not need anything from the virtual folder, that would just be the same as running it in a separate folder to begin with. And the tool would need to exist outside the mod in any case, as MO2 cannot run a tool from the virtual folder.
i would propose another method which i used, similar to nemini's, assuming you have an archiving tool like winrar to create zip archives:
- follow nemini's steps 1-4. - after running the tool, add all the contents of the Data folder to a new zip archive with your archiver (name it whatever you like) - open that zip file in MO2 like you would manually add any other mod - if MO2 complains about your folder structure, resolve it manually or recreate the archive (but structure it correctly this time). - enable
this would allow you to avoid creating folders from scratch (which you might mis-spell, or sth, idk), allows you to quickly re-add the mod later, swap between install profiles, etc etc
I'm having an odd issue where some songs will only play for a few seconds then switches to a different song. any idea how to fix this? It's very annoying that it keeps skipping songs
Hello, I have a problem. The mod worked fine during the first song, but the next song lasted about 4 seconds and then skipped to the next one, which also lasted about 4 seconds before skipping again, and so on. In short, it didn't play the full songs and kept skipping them almost as soon as they started. Is there a way to fix this? Sorry, I don't speak English and wrote this using a translator, in case my issue isn't clear.
Does anyone know where I can find the original mono files for Radio New Vegas? I'm trying to replace everything so the world radios only play my new music, but the mp3s in the songs/radionv folder are just for the Pipboy radio, I think. Even after replacing all of those, in-game radios still play the original songs, and I can't figure out where the files are that they're reading.

I tried installing it manually, and then making an empty mod in MO2, and putting the esp in there and activating it, but I got nothing but silence.
Any ideas?
