What is the FO3 version of this mod?

Since Fallout 3 does not require a Steam hook that checks the executable to see if it's been modified, most folks just make the Fallout 3 proggie LAA (Large [memory] Address Aware).

On the Nexus, try this or this.

This was the one I used in the past and it was the best.
Unfortunately, I have a retail version, and sad to see, but looks like this mod became Steam-only.

And I can't use the other mod (https://www.nexusmods.com/newvegas/mods/62552) because I use a no cd patch (and didn't save the original .exe, and I REALLY don't want to reinstall all the game with all the mods I have just because I forgot that).
So, time to look for another 4GB patch.

You must use the NVSE launcher, and if you scroll down this page to hoodaticus's post you'll find a link I posted to a much better version...use it instead of this one.

      What I did

Opened Task Manager, ended the 4GB tasks manually and then it allowed me to delete it.

This has probably been answered before, but it's a little difficult sifting through 2668 other posts for the right one.

So, I got the game through a different source that isn't steam. I have nvse downloaded and I have THIS mod in the data folder, but whenever I try to run it, it crashes instantly and says something along the lines of "original exe modified -> executable headers failed to validate" and underneath "an unmodified exe is required, go to steam and validate your game cache"
I'm not using steam and I don't understand how to make it run.

You cannot have a valid (as in - legal) copy of FNV without Steam, and your problem demonstrates that. The game is telling you that it can't find the .exe it expects to find, probably due to the pirate .exe being hacked to bypass the Steam check, and crashes as a result. And you should be aware that openly admitting to having a pirated version is a bannable offense here on the Nexus.

Is this why they are now banned? lol I just thought it was funny that your response is about possibly getting banned and now they're banned.

Now, yes. When this was originally posted, no...that's the problem, along with his open admission of having a non-Steam version.

You could always check the forums for the reason someone was banned. It used to be true that Steam was the only valid way to "own" New Vegas, but that is no longer the case.
