Affects all permanent companions (Arcane, Lily, Craig, ED-E, etc...) but not those that join up with you just for a mission (Sunny, Neil, and so on). If you feel like testing it, save, open the console and use the kill command on your companion.
Does work in Hardcore mode.
According to comments from FalloutNVX, this mod conflicts with Better Boone. I would assume that it also conflicts with any mod that changes companions, so do be careful of that. Until a merged patch/bashed patch utility comes out, anyway.
