If you have a problem caused by a recent version of NVSR: 1. Find your NVSR ini file. See the "Master" section at the top of it. Disable features from there (by changing ones to zeroes) until your problem goes away. If you can change all the ones to zeroes and your problem remains then likely NVSR was not at fault. Re-enable features that weren't the cause of your problem. 2. Post here. Describe the problem. Tell me which line in the "Master" section was associated with the problem. If you have used a previous version of NVSR that did not cause the problem, let me know about that, including which version it was.
and optionally, 3. If you're feeling industrious, try finding the section of the NVSR ini associated with the particular feature you're having trouble with (not all features have ini sections, but many do), and try adjusting its settings to see if they have any effect on your problem.
That will at least give me a fighting chance of figuring out what went wrong. Hopefully.
Download NVTF - New Vegas Tick Fix. Right click on the mod in Vortex and open it in File Manager. Open the .ini file.
Make sure under [Main] that "bModifyDirectXBehavior" is set to "bModifyDirectXBehavior = 1". Under [ThreadingTweaks] change the line "iTweakRCSafeGuard" to "iTweakRCSafeGuard = 2". Don't worry about it being "slightly less stable". This will simply mean that the game will run at a much-improved frame rate at the cost of this potentially causing a specific rare crash.
Thank you so so so much. Seems like there are still good people around, like you, who just want to help others. Finally I can play New Vegas again without it crashing every 10 minutes. <3
Fixed it all for me, Ive had stutters every time LOD (distant objects and terrain) had to load, this single line of text fixed it for me, ive been trying to fix that for over 50 hours xD
So I did this and Vortex was able to install the mod however before even having it installed I was running the game perfectly fine, buut upon loading into my last save the game is stuttering HARD like it starts smooth then just stutters to all hell and I genuinely have no idea whats causing it because it was working fine last night.. Figured this mod would fix it but alas it has not :( Not sure if this helps but xre cars gave me the error message stating that NVSR is not loaded even after installing.
You are a life saver. Been looking at trying to fix stability issues in TTW with cell loading, and nothing has worked except this fix. This seems to work for Windows 10 as well for anyone else looking for a solution.
VeryLastKiss's comment should be pinned for all the headache it saves.
as of may 8th 2024, the patch still works well fixing all lag and stutters but causes an insane amount of crashes sadly. good mod but even with changing the bhook to 0 it still causes crashes non-stop. :(
I can't delete the local files for the mod, it's causing the game not to run. I have zero files related to FNV anywhere else on my pc. No idea what to do now
Define, "this mod is dead." Just came back to FNV after years away. Fresh install, am now at 771 mods and 241 plugins using NVSR and it works perfectly on my end. Look up Sinitar's FNV modding guide and others out there, should be able to find some good performance/stability baselines, things to modify for the ini files of this mod and others, etc. Hopefully you can get it working again.
Please, for the love of god, dont use Sinitars Modding Guides. They are full of misinformation, confilicting mods and overall just garbage. Use Viva New Vegas or another modding guide.

If you are using this mod on Windows 10, you need to open sr_New_Vegas_Stutter_Remover.ini in notepad and change the line:
bHookLightCriticalSections = 1
to
bHookLightCriticalSections = 0
Otherwise you will crash every 10-15 minutes or during load screens.
