Dragon Age III announced

  • Comment
On May 19th, Bioware’s senior director Alistair McNally tweeted
I'm looking for exceptional environment artists to join me at #BioWare Edmonton, Canada to work on #DragonAge3 #gamejobs #jobs #3D #artists

This is great news for everyone who enjoys the Dragon Age games, because it means that a third installment of the RPG is on its way. Since Dragon Age II was released a little over a year after Dragon Age: Origins, you can most likely expect to see Dragon Age III released late 2012 or early 2013.

For those who haven't found it yet, the BioWare Social Network (BSN) has a forum devoted to developer and player conversations about the next chapter in the story of Thedas: "DA3 Inquisition - General Discussion". (http://social.bioware.com/forum/1/category/371/index)

If I understand correctly Bioware now belongs to EA Games. And EA seems more interested in getting games released as soon as possible and for an as wide as possible range of potential buyers. So they would want the PEGI to be 12+, or thereabouts. Had Bioware remained an independent company, I imagine it might've maintained its reputation as game developers who wish to release quality games, for a wee bit longer.
As it stands today, the Bioware reputation has crumbled like a house of cards, so the name is no longer a sure bet for games that are topnotch quality.
It always felt as if Bioware wanted to create games they themselves would enjoy playing.

While I think DAII was enjoyable, it can never come close to DAO. I feel as if DAO was Bioware's death-rattle; the final game that still had some of its Bioware magic.
The DAII experience is easily forgotten when the game is at its end; it does not offer much in replay value -for me anyway. Plus the Rogue class got seriously nerfed. I enjoyed trapmaking and using traps in DAO and I sorely miss it.
DAII also lacks memorable characters -even Bodahn cannot live up to his previous performance in DAO. The brief cameo's by Alistair, Teagan, Flemeth, only rub more salt into the wounds. Although with Flemeth I did smile when she used the exact same line Morrigan used when she first encountered the Warden in DAO (Well, well, what have we here?).
I can understand why they cut the choice of race from DAII -they fully voiced Hawke's dialogue and that would be quite the feat to voice an Elven and Dwarven Hawke as well. Not to mention the increase in size of the game. But storywise DAII seems to drift a lot, whereas DAO was very story driven; you knew what you were steering towards to: the final confrontation between the wardens and the Archdemon. In short -in my opinioon- DAO was far more satysfying and memorable than its sequel. So I basically dread what DAIII will look like. I might pick up a copy when its hits the bargain bin, but I doubt it will be worth paying top dollar for it.
    Let's wait and see.

I didn't think this would be professional to put in the news article, but I just want to thank the people that send me messages and inform me about news I may not be aware of yet. I really appreciate the help you guys give me, so thank you very much for what you do.

But in regards to the article, I think Dragon Age III is going to be rushed out and not created properly. I imagine that it will be a console port to the PC and be very similar to Dragon Age II. I'm hoping they'll go back to the Origins system and allow us to choose race and background, because that was a very enjoyable part of the game for me. Anyway, I hope they listen to the criticisms a lot of people had when they make Dragon Age III, because Dragon Age II wasn't that enjoyable to me; and I don't know if I'll buy number three unless they change some things around.

yeah I agree, dragan age II was not nearly as enjoyable as the first Origins. it doesn't even feel like an RPG anymore, just feels like another action game.why is it with all of these new games coming out do they add new stuff to the game, and take out all of the old stuff that everybody likes? it just doesn't make sense.

I agree with @Letiso88. My dad just got Dungeon siege 3 and I'm pre-ordering Skyrim. And I know Skyrim is gonna be BIG. Also I also think Dragon Age 2 was really rushed. It was just missing so many things from Dragon Age: Origins...

Plus I don't mind waiting for a good game! They should at least take a few years to put a lot of love and detail into it. It's not like us gamers are going to lose interest; I've been waiting years for Skyrim!

I hope they don't bring it out somewhat next year, 1) to many upcoming newgames that year already for me 2) I want them to take time to actually make a decent game. As great as Da2 is, it feels incomplete and rushed.

Like Blizzard, they should take time nurturing their games not feed it steroids. Would be best to launch it in a less busy time period. Look at the upcoming titles; TES5- skyrim / Diablo 3 / Bioshock Infinity / New MMO - SWTOR / Batman gotham city / Mass Effect 3 / Deus ex etc etc etc ... Releasing it amongst those would be a bad idea, me thinks.

Also think there is no need releasing many DLCs - I`ll better wait the new DA.
DA2 is the nice one not so perfect as DA:O is but I like it very much. I hope Bioware will present something special to us)))
