Hey I have a problem with a wizard(1)/FS(4) build I'm playing at the moment using this mod. Ever since adding the wizard level I get lower duration on all my FS buffs. Specifically spells like bless and aid run out at the same time as shield. Edit: Seems the caster level for the last spell cast determines duration for all spells prepared. Just changed the order to have an fs spell cast last and now my level 1 shield spell lasts for 40 turns instead of the 10 it should
And just to clarify so my negative sentiments aren't the only thing left on the forum:
This mod is amazing if not downright essential. Thank you kevLs for the effort you've put in to perfecting the buff-rod
sorry but i can't replicate this behavior. Tried with my normal override as well as a clean override, and after consoling in a 4 FS + 1 Wiz, I rearranged the order of Bless/Aid + Shield in the metaPrepa book and the Shield wore off after a minute while the FS spells lasted much longer, either way.
I can't even think what might cause it, unless it's a very special module you're playing with lots of custom spell behavior perhaps. Another possibility is the GoG edition but i doubt that. You can try clearing your overrides (there's one in the installation folder also, but nothing should go there anyway) except for the Prepa to see if there's any difference, but
I seem to have this pretty consistently when dual-classing casters actually and I'm only playing the OC. I'm not using kaedrin's so don't know if that's a factor. Only other mod I have is a color palette (united colors) for purple skin and green hair ;-)
Anyway I guess it's just a quirk on my installation. It's frustrating though cause of how tempted I am to do minor splashes now that I can have full casterlevel durations on anything haha
tbh it's the sort of underlying thing they gave little control to scripters about. That is, when scripting a spell to cast (from the Book, eg) there's no way (i know of) that spec's the caster_type: FS not Wiz / vice versa. So the script only says "cast that spell" and the game engine decides that parameter.
This is also part of the problem with Metaprepa's Cleric domain spells....
anywho, it might be the quirky (?) Gog edition, if you have that ( no one seems to know how much or even if there's a difference ). If not, make sure yer updated to v1.23 etc etc
Thanks for this kevLs, I wouldn't leave home without it. Any way it could be extended to cover the Scabbard of Blessing, Scabbard of Keen Edges, & the Brooch of Shielding.
I haven't checked how those items operate, so can't say for certain. 2 things against it though:
1. they probably run their own scripts and don't have a spellhook 2. i like a sense of completeness (insofar as possible) and don't feel *strongly* attracted to adding a few items without a whole bunch of others <- not really an argument is it
Anyway, you put the idea out there and even if it comes to naught be 'sured i'll have a look !
This mod rocks, thank you ! I use kaedrins PRC and this was the only mod i can find that worked with it. also, the way it is used is the easiest i have found.
I'm sure Lost Creation was the guy responsible for *how* the Rod is used as well as the majority of the scripting. I just rearranged stuff under the hood and sent messages to the Player. I like polish (and have been to Poland - pretty cool place.)

I don't know if this mod is still being updated, but it would be nice if it could be fixed.

later: Strider on the NeverwinterVault.org identified a problem with Instant casts. vbeta.96 has a potential workaround.

if in doubt, exploit it!
