Just finished. It's just mind-boggling for me that someone actually made a campaign like this. It's just absolutely awesome and the amount of content clearly exceeds SoZ or OC. If someone is hesitant: yes, you should definitely play this!
There are some small quest bugs, but only one I've seen was game-breaking, and others mentioned this already in past posts. Springapple trigger didn't work for me and I never got the kvas_mother quest. This I fixed with:
1. Conversation skills and also pretty much any other skills are often used, including stuff like Listen or Spot. There are random triggers in different locations, which give XP for noticing something, and there are also lots of fun dialog options enabled by different skills. 2. There is OC crafting available, there are "makers guild" in some towns, and in Ekkathys once you rebuild the crafting stations you also get a small bonus to crafting skills. While there are lots of essences, there are only a handful of high gems available in the game, so you will only be able to make few powerful items. 3. Since all your party members are evil, it might be really useful to put points into Use Magic Device. Especially when you find lawful-good-paladin-only swords +5 4. Some NPCs will give feats for money (in some cases once you complete some quests for them), so certain feats are not necessarily worth taking when levelling up. Those that I remember were: - Drow in Calimport (dual weapon fighting, dual weapon defence, weapon focus katana, weapon focus rapier) - Tellner ogre mage in Murann (Skill focus appraise) - Vendor in maker's guid in al-Quars (Skill focus alchemy) - Mage in Calimport (Spell focus transmutation) - Hermit in Devil's Backbone (Iron will) - Blacksmith in Pros (Skill focus craft weapon/armor) 5. There are also some talismans which give feats and attributes! Some cost 100k+ so save your money. 6. You can reach some pretty high level. I finished at 22 without trying to "optimize" exp gains at all. 7. Max price I've seen from a vendor was 25k for a single item. Different vendors have different max prices, so it's wise to avoid selling some really good gear for low price, because given vendor doesn't pay more than 500 or 1000. Vendors tend to run out of money fast, however magic vendor in Ekkathyst seems to have really lots of gold and price cap of 25k, so you should visit him. 8. Some companions have their quest tied to some location which can be visited only once - specifically Laisera and Tortured King have their quests tied to Underdark, so you should not go there before you recruit them and you should take them with you! Laisera's quest is a bit confusing, because for me it was not obvious at all that I need to visit temple in al-Quasr afterwards to complete her quest. 9. Because of how it works (passage of time) and what happens if you collect the crow pieces, you should visit Ekkathys sooner rather than later. Also you can grab there arguably 3 strongest companions (sorcerer, favoured soul and dwarf fighter)
What I really liked:
1. Massive, detailed locations! You enter some random cave and instead of a tiny hole with a single wolf you get some 3 level dungeon with satan himself waiting at the end. And it's not plot-related location, just a random dungeon you might visit if you want to. 2. "exploration XP" bonuses 3. Lots of skill-check locations and conversations and also companion interactions (eg. Kvas stealing stuff from merchants) 4. There was "back to entrance" transition in almost every dungeon, which is really nice, since you don't have to backtrack for 15 minutes. Especially before you get access to Ekkathyst stronghold and get the recall rune. 5. Multiple ways to approach quests - especially when you can double or triple cross someone during a single quest
What could have been better:
1. Some things were not obvious and didn't show up as quests. Specifically the 3 thin keys for the stronghold were some completely random thing. I fail to understand why this wasn't a regular quest. Especially when one of the keys is in random chest in random house. 2. Final fight was disappointing. I guess I was "over-leveled" but I could easily solo the whole Arvandor including the endgame boss angels. The tower with yellow sky was far more challenging when golems decided to summon a couple of Balors, and also the dungeon with tentacle monster at the end was also much harder, with a bunch of nightwalkers. 3. The whole Devil's Backbone area was just bad. I went there multiple times, because navigating was really poor and I completely missed the Hermit and also the path up the waterfalls. 4. There is no real effect of rebuilding stronghold or upgrading equipment. You get a couple more vendors but that's it.
Bugs I've experienced:
1. Final profession quest for arcane caster in Neverwinter doesn't complete 2. Springapple quest doesn't trigger 3. The whole Bokhara Golem Works is broken. You can't side with wizards, because the dialog which should be assigned to Regent downstairs is actually assigned to the assistant wizard behind the portal, who you can't reach without first accepting to work for the Golem. But it's even worse! If you first refuse the golem, and then go back and accept, then golem doesn't open the doors to upper floor and you're stuck. If you accept to work for the golem, then the trigger after the portal doesn't work correctly and once you pass the portal some wizards aggro, and others don't. And you don't get the [Attack] conversation option. Interestingly enough you can force-attack those guys, and if you kill all other wizards (including both wings downstairs and all upper floors) the quest actually updated and I could finish it. 4. The cultists wars in Ekkathyst quest gets broken if you enter the tombs before you get the quest from guard captain. I killed both factions before getting the quest, and this quest never completes. 5. Some triggers didn't work properly and I had to reload - this happened to me during Carcarin summoning and then fight with the demon. 6. Tellner quests broke when you do it out-of-order. When I discussed with him slaves for Malhinion it made the first quest with Tellner slaves impossible to complete because you don't get the necessary dialog options any more. 7. Mutasin was a lvl1 Wizard instead of a Cleric, which meant he got XP penalty for multiclassing (you really can't do a Wizard out of him with his attributes) 8. Lots of doors in dungeons (especially the stone doors) are bugged in a weird way, and you need to walk very close to them in order to open, just clicking won't do.
I am also a bit confused about the "ending". Did I miss something or was it supposed to be longer/different? I killed the two angels at the end and the final cutscene played. However one of the angels drops furnace quest item. So I tried to kill only one, and then go back to the furnace with that item to see if I can re-forge the crown, but the panel is still broken. What is more confusing I've seem some DLG files which suggest you could re-forge the crown, complete Tan's story and then face some demon? Is this some kind of "secret ending"? The only scenario I can imagine where you have all crown pieces and haven't entered Ekkathys from outside is if you ask Tellner to retrieve a crown piece for you - I'm assuming in such case you could acquire all pieces while inside the stronghold, and perhaps then you can go to the furnace without triggering the adventurers smashing the panel? But I tried to reset this particular quest and I managed to re-forge the crown, but it didn't trigger Tan conversation or the Demon spawning. It's pretty clear that something is completely messed-up with the endgame scripts :( My best guess is that you were supposed to kill angels, fix the furnace, make the crown and fight the demon as final boss and complete Tan questline.
Anyone know a command to fix the quest in pros from the vampire, where you're requested to kill the iconographer? The quest does not update when I kill him and I cannot continue. This was my favorite questline, and it's somewhat gamebreaking if I can't continue through it.
Hello, I have a problem with the final exam by Hemlock. I found the reward in the sewer, but nothing happens; I still have the quest as not completed and nowhere else to go in neverwinter. Any tips please?
Edit: i created a "fighter" char and I completed the quest with it, this time though the chest was a different one, so I don't know if my problem with the Wizard class was related to the chest trigger or the mage quest itself
Can't finish Zuhei's quest in Murann. I have got Ruhei's seal but the magistrate won't accept it. The magistrate speaks to me as if I haven't got the seal.
Thank you. I have another problem. I am in the second floor at Nag Hammadi where a piece of crown is located in Council Hills, Southeast Faerun. There is no way for me to further explore the tower. I have found a room surrounded by mirrors and the exit is at the next door, but I can't get there.
Edit: Nevermind. I use give_item poe_crown4 to get the piece. At last I enter arvandor and kill two engels and the game ends????? Have I done something wrong or the mod is designed to end here???? How can I reforge the crown???
I've put the "Path of Evil" folder in the Documents\Neverwinter Nights 2\Campaigns and the "Remaster Other Files" in the Documents\Neverwinter Nights 2\modules. im getting a "could not load the module " message when i try to start the campaign. Is there anything im doing wrong? using the complete edition from GOG (1.23).
Interesting idea. D&D often had the problem that the only mature roleplaying was among Evil groups, while law& good had an overdose of cliche and retarded meddling. In worlds like The Witcher or Dragon Age most D&D good guys & gals would not last 48 hours.
This has to be one of the buggiest campaigns I've ever played. I'm sure I messed up somewhere and I didn't create sequential saves so if I were to go back I'd lose hours of progress.
I don't know how people managed to get out of Neverwinter and see the rest of the campaign considering how the opening questlines can bug out and softlock the game if you don't do things in a specific order. Which seems like it's punishing me for exploring...

There are some small quest bugs, but only one I've seen was game-breaking, and others mentioned this already in past posts. Springapple trigger didn't work for me and I never got the kvas_mother quest. This I fixed with:
rs ga_journal(kvas_mother, 1, 1, 0, 1)
rs ga_lock(johani_door, 0)
And it all went just fine.

Seems like a bug, idk...
