My Deck of Trumps item added the ability to access the Party Editor in the OC and other campaigns back in 2007. It was uploaded to Nexus in 2012 but was available in the NWN2 Vault prior to that. https://www.nexusmods.com/neverwinter2/mods/46
I also have mods in Nexus for accessing the Party Editor in MOW and SoZ.
At the beginning of Act II, due to the nature of party changing automatically, it is impossible to retain the party members you give yourself with the book.
In the OC, I have encountered an event where the party member I have added with the book got booted out of the party upon meeting with Casavir during the main storyline.
