About this mod

Reduces light sources in the Shadow Song Mine in an attempt to reduce stuttering.

What does it do?
This mod tries to bump up performance in the game's start dungeon, the Shadow Song Mine.
It does so by (currently exclusively) reducing the amount of light sources present, usually combining clusters of weak sources with one that is a bit stronger.

Why?
SureAI's locations are beautifully crafted, but sometimes can bring the engine to its limits, causing stuttering, low FPS and a feeling of laggy gameplay. I was curious to see if reduced lights would change performance, and for me it's helped with jittery behavior. So why not share the result?

Installation
Just copy the ShadowSongMine-FPS-Fixer.esp into the \steamapps\common\Oblivion\Data folder and activate the mod in the Nehrim launcher.

Future thoughts
There are some things I will investigate as well.
- Further optimizing lighting / trying to keep it as close to the original as possible
- Replacing "wasteful" assets with custom solutions (Kvatch arena assets used for just a tiny part / animated, rotten corpses hanging at ropes just for the rope section visible)
- Reducing object count without noticable impact where possible

Licensing
You are free to do whatever you want. Can be merged into Nehrim upstream, redistributed, repurposed, whatever you'd like. Credit would be cool.

Anything else?
Let me know if this does anything for you, or (reasonable) suggestions for improvements. :)
