As of now, consider this mod finished and not subject to further changes.

I created this mod specifically for myself, but I thought maybe other people would enjoy it too, so, later, I decided to share. That being said, this mod's purpose is not to please everyone, it only strives to make the game more interesting, engaging and challenging.

If you don't wanna see bonus cars (police cars, traffic, etc) in the car lot, do this: Open up NFSMWExtraOptionsSettings.ini from the scripts folder and change the line "ShowAllCarsInFE = 1" from 1 to 0.

    PRO TIP
This is valid for the vanilla game as well:
Set your game to run at 60 FPS max, otherwise your game will behave in a glitchy way on hardware that supports more than 60hz. I suggest you to use RivaTuner for capping the fps, rather than nVidia control panel or the AMD software.

    FAQ:

Q: I, personally, find X aspect of the mod too difficult/grindy/insert whatever reason here. Will you release another version of the mod that addresses these personal issues of mine?

A: Sorry, alternative versions of the mod won't be released. In case you want to tweak things yourself, you can find instructions on how to do that lying around in this thread.

Amazing mod, simply amazing and it finally makes me feel beatable. But i have a question, the cars that are added to lap/elimination races are transparent with some black parts on them, it ain't game breaking and i dont mind it but i was just curious if theres a way to fix that?

The thing is I don't have that problem, so I have absolutely no idea how to fix it. But it sounds like a memory related issue.

How much RAM and VRAM do you have?
Have you tried using the 4GB patch?
Do you use any other mods? If so, try removing them and test to see if the issue is gone.

RAM wise is 4GB and VRAM is 1989 as DxDiag says, about mods I only have the Widescreen Fix and Hud Fix I will try to remove those and see if it changes and finally the 4GB patch?Never heard of that, is there a link from where to download it or where exactly should i search it?Sorry to bother btw, eating ur time with my small problem...

So i tried to play without the Widescreen/HUD Fix and still the same problem, its either the RAM/VRAM or the 4GB patch thing Iyet have to find

      Don't worry, I don't mind the questions.
Your PC resources may be a bit too low, but you should give the 4GB patch a try still. Just do an internet search for "4GB patch" and the first website you come across is it. After you download it, use to exe file to patch your speed.exe.

Ok so this is how it went:
-tried the 4GB patch, didn't work
-tried a fresh no mods install w the 4GB patch, didn't work
-i tried with HUD/Widescreen Fixes and 4GB patch but i also installed the extra options mod(hopefully it ain't a problem that i mentioned it) and in the  "NFSMWExtraOptionsSettings" configuration file i have changed the command "CarSkinFix" command from 0 to 1 and now the added opponents have the skins on.
I thought to write it all since maybe someone else will have the same problem so it might help, i'm not sure if the 4GB patch is necessary but it doesn't hurt to have it installed. Thank you very much for your help and again sorry to bother and for eating ur time

There's no need to apologize, man.

Oh, I forgot about the "CarSkinFix" thing. Thanks for the info.

This is a very good mod! While I haven't played through the whole, I wish to comment on it, hopefully for improvement.

    • Firstly, hiding the visual parts (Bodykits, vinyls, etc.) is very confusing (Where did they go? Are they marker-only?) This confused me a LOT in my playthrough before I figured out they are hidden until you get close.
    • On that note, selecting 4 markers is a LOT. At two the game feels just right.
    • Second, the races with 8+ opponents: Since there will be duplicate cars, you can often find e.g. two Caymans in a Blacklist 14 race who just take off and are hard to see. As you slowly wade through the opposition, it will often become clear that these are just clone wars spread out. At the same time, any tight start becomes HILARIOUSLY difficult since corners will usually cause pile-ups due to unintentional brake-checks. This would be way better with 8 drivers at most.
    • Junkmans are doubled up on as rewards, seemingly. While this might seem fine, you usually want to start using them up fairly consistently and having two cycles would be far better QOL-wise
    • Traffic cars are now make-or-break, especially since the racing AI isn't great at avoiding crashes. Personally, the lighter cars were significantly more interesting (And here for tollbooth races, the weight doesn't even matter since a crash is so punishing anyways). It would on average (Taking 8 drivers with the same hit probability) actually help the AI 7 out of 8 times if the cars had their original value since I very often see the cars ahead face-plant a car and lose a good 10s off of a race. I like the higher amount of traffic otherwise
    • The cops feel WAY heavier. Early on, this is more punishing and forces reliance on pursuit breakers like Carbon, which is simply not fun. Increasing the spawn rate and giving them the original weight would, in my opinion, be much superior. Right now, even at 200 km/h slamming a cop against a wall in speedbreaker will just mildly inconvenience it (Unless the cop flips), which also means you are basically left to out-run them, further complicating the bounty issue. Note I don't mention the other parts, since aside from Sonny's and Taz's bounty you do end up with the stuff balancing out (Personally setting those two to 25k and 65k would feel fairer)
    • Sprint and Speedtrap races pay too little compared to the circuits and knockouts (Plus tollbooths). I understand the desire to go for adjusted rewards, but when a 3x longer circuit gives 5-6x the money (Izzy has that) I start getting annoyed. Rewards should be based on time to completion with drag having that time tripled.
    • Please return Drag to its original difficulty if we still have to complete it. The AI rubberbands like crazy, which makes for an utterly infuriating experience (Even the "god tier" Cobalt only won one particular event because every other racer crashed a car when they rubberbanded past at like 50kph above my speed)
Other than this I love the changes, the game feels harder, but not unfair outside what I mentioned. Great work!

Playing further in, there was one part to add to this: The tollbooths are actually completely too fast for certain cars while being a joke for others. I have a junkman Elise sitting around and a junkman Impreza, both at Blacklist 4 tuning, with handling and such tuned to work well. For a Tollbooth event, the Subaru without traffic collisions manages to be one second too slow (On three separate attempts with a MUCH more aggressive and optimized racing line, along with nitrous pausing during shifts, due to its engine simply.... Not liking the 260-290 band (This car hands-down wrecks all other race types with ease). Meanwhile the go-kart that is the Elise can zip through the event with absolute contempt, finishing it with 10s to spare after two head-on collisions, one even before the checkpoint that kills the Subaru runs.

Yes, you read that right: That happens.

The affected tollbooths are at Blacklist 5 and 3, others were doable. Generally though, a slightly more forgiving initial timer would probably allow most cars to compete. This is true specifically for highway-intense tollbooths, where the run up to speed differs substantially based on car.

Okay, this is a lot to unwrap.

"Firstly, hiding the visual parts (Bodykits, vinyls, etc.) is very confusing (Where did they go? Are they marker-only?) This confused me a LOT in my playthrough before I figured out they are hidden until you get close."  -- I'm confused too, I don't understand what you're talking about. Are you talking about the invisibility bug when it is raining outside? That's a game engine limitation, the mod itself isn't the culprit, the effects are probably worse on lower-end systems.

"Second, the races with 8+ opponents: Since there will be duplicate cars, you can often find e.g. two Caymans in a Blacklist 14 race who just take off and are hard to see. As you slowly wade through the opposition, it will often become clear that these are just clone wars spread out. At the same time, any tight start becomes HILARIOUSLY difficult since corners will usually cause pile-ups due to unintentional brake-checks. This would be way better with 8 drivers at most." -- The AI is bad, what can I say...I personally choose to overlook this and move on, it's obviously not ideal, but there's not much I can do about it, except for reducing the nr of opponents. I've tried to reduce their nr in tighter races, but balance is impossible to be achieved with this.

"Traffic cars are now make-or-break, especially since the racing AI isn't great at avoiding crashes. I like the higher amount of traffic otherwise" -- Before, hitting traffic cars felt like hitting cardboard boxes. I just can't stand that. Hitting a car and continuing to push it forward at 150 km/h speeds just doesn't do it for me.

"Sprint and Speedtrap races pay too little compared to the circuits and knockouts (Plus tollbooths). I understand the desire to go for adjusted rewards, but when a 3x longer circuit gives 5-6x the money (Izzy has that) I start getting annoyed. Rewards should be based on time to completion with drag having that time tripled." -- The rewarded amounts are not based on the length of the race alone, but on other things too, like nr of opponents, type of race, cops probability.

"Playing further in, there was one part to add to this: The tollbooths are actually completely too fast for certain cars while being a joke for others. Meanwhile the go-kart that is the Elise can zip through the event with absolute contempt, finishing it with 10s to spare after two head-on collisions, one even before the checkpoint that kills the Subaru runs." -- That's more of a car balance problem, not a tollbooth race problem, if you were to increase the time bonus, it would make them even easier to win with some of the cars.

I haven't responded to some of your points because I have no arguments to bring to them, it's just that our tastes are different and I like how things are.

I haven't played the game in a long time, and I haven't worked on it in a much longer time than that, the reason for that being that I like the place where the game sits right now, and it's unlikely I'll change anything in the future. And even if I were to want to change some things in the future, tbh, it would take time to figure out how to mod it again (where and how to find x and y in order to modify them, and testing can be a nightmare, it is extremely time consuming and exhausting), time, free time at that, that I choose to spend in a way that's more enjoyable and meaningful for me personally. Thanks for the suggestions, though.

Hello again, I just tried to reinstall this mod after a while since my last posts and found out its impossible to get the black v1.3 no cd crack file.

Any way to work around it?

I downloaded the mod and it's not working.

I assume it's because it needs the black v1.3 version "speed.exe".
I cannot seem to find that crack anywhere. Is there any workaround that?

Just tried VltEd script and it gave me LOTS of errors

I like this mod, but it breaks the milestone events. When I start one at Sonny, the cop immediately does a 180 and rockets away from me, so the bar at the bottom fills quickly because I'm "escaping", and it's nearly impossible for me to catch up to the cop to put me in their line of sight and have an actual chase. It always ends within like 5 seconds, and the cop car despawns. For some reason, even if I make it to the cop and ram them, they'll still act like they don't see me and I end up escaping.

That's strange, this never happened to me, and you're the first to report such an issue. Maybe you've got other mods installed that in combination with mine act weird.

The only way would be for you to edit the mod yourself, look into the comments for more information about that.

Hi there. I've been trying to beat Challenge Series 35 for DAYS. I can get past the first two toll booths flawlessly; no collisions, no drifting, proper nitro usage, proper cornering, and yet I'm always needing 2-3 more seconds for the 3rd. I compared it to a YouTube playthrough and it looks like your mod just changes the starting time from 30s to 24secs. Again, I've tried for days at this point, probably hundreds of runs now, and the 3rd toll booth seems unreachable, unless you (the author) have tested it yourself that it's possible? Thanks.

From the description page: "So far, only career mode tollbooths and the first 17 out of the 34 challenge series tollbooths have been modded. The rest have had their time bonus reduced by 20% as a starting base, and are a work in progress."

I get it that the traffic overhaul wants to be immersive but it's not challenging when the civies are just as maniacal as the racers, as if like they're in the race themselves and they cut from the farthest lane when they have to turn IN A HIGHWAY what kind of dumb real life driver does that. There are invisible ones too, hell they even crash into each other 8 out of 10 clogging the road entirely. Anything else is good but with the traffic programming it's all about luck than skill.

Blame EA for the poor AI programming, not the mod. All this mod does is it makes the traffic more intense, traffic cars faster and heavier, that's it. The dumb behavior of the AI was always there.
