hey, how do i change what button switches between the two profiles? I find it annoying that the same button that accelerates is the same that switches between driving and player controls, and im currently trying to bind it to my button 13 on this third party gamecube controller.
Followed your advice to another user for leaving WASD mapped in Player Controls, and remapping Joystick controls so I can use both stick and WASD for player movement. But is there a way to allow WASD as a secondary vehicle control while keeping joystick fine control? I'd like to be able to swap back and forth, but while keeping the fine control on joystick. It doesn't look like JoytoKey recognizes anything but controller input, so I assume there's no way to set it recognize say a "W" input and translate that to a "80" throttle joystick input?
Gave it some thought and tbh I'm not seeing an easy way to do it. However.... That doesn't mean it's not possible. Just means it will take some effort. If you configure the triggers to be separate inputs based on distance and use the Advanced Keyboard and Mouse Controls mod. It allows multiple keyboard inputs for different throttling and a few other things. The main problem is the time it will take you to set it up since it changes so many default controls. If you get a functioning setup that you feel is worth sharing please do so! I would love to try it out!
NP on delay. We all got lives and things to do! I actually had that mod installed before switching over to a controller for driving. If I follow right you're saying to remap the AKMC inputs to graded amounts of trigger activation, but I'm not sure how to separate those out in a way for AKMC to recognize as separate keys, short of maybe using the Joystick Calibration mod to set up individual min/max entries or something. Maybe I'm overlooking something obvious though as it's currently 5 in the morning over here. I'll look into that tomorrow. Thanks for the reply!
For this I would suggest input based on analog input level option in the 2nd tab when adjusting a key bind to a button (or in this case an analogue stick). Then from lowest to highest based on how far you are pressing.. The option should be near the bottom. Only problem is that it only has 3 slots for input and the mod gives you 4 of them. I know I mentioned triggers before but after messing with it a bit joytokey doesn't seem to register different amounts of pull on them.
Edit: To get all 4 just have the max input register as one of the empty ones. Then set that empty one to be 3rd fastest on initial press and switch to 4th fastest when held for X amount of time. Should work just fine :D
If you are having trouble finding it just launch joytokey and click file in the top left. The dropdown menu has an option to open the config folder in your file explorer.
And it doesn't when you aren't using JoyToKey? I have no idea. Haven't played the latest update. My guesses are 1.) the games default controls got swapped around or 2.) You bound your brake key to alt+F4 or something. It could also be that it's reading multiple buttons being pressed causing a hotkey to activate unintentionally. Try it without JoyToKey. If it works try it again with it open but still use your Mouse and keyboard. Keep narrowing down the problem till it makes sense. If you have installed more than 3 mods at a time without proper testing trying to figure out the problem is a nightmare.
so idk if I'm having a smooth brain moment or not but I'm having trouble installing it. like i don't have a single clue i have red the description and i don't see anything about the installation processes
You install JoyToKey and then take this mod file and put it where JoyToKey saves controller profiles. Big section titled "steps to make it work" in the description. Can't miss it.
