Would you consider making a small flat terrain battle map mod? It would be really helpful for unit testing? Nothing fancy, just a compact square flat space with nothing on it.
I'm currently not interested, sorry. But from what I can remember and a quick look, I think the videos #1, #4, #7, #10, and #11 from the Scene Editor Tutorial Series by Macbeth of Gondor should contain (at least most of) what you need to know to be able to do it yourself.

Those combined should contain what you're after.
