About this mod

Companions will now require their skills' worth of gold to be hired.

Permissions and credits
What it does?

Companion costs makes that wanderes require their skills' worth of gold in order to be hired. In vanilla gameplay, most companions require 500-1000 gold in order to be hired, regardless of their actual skills and usefulness. This is because the game only factors in the companions gear and level. With this mod, each skill will contribute to a companion's price, so more useful = more expensive.

Not all skills are priced the same, some are cheaper than others. For each 1 skill point, a certain amount of coins is added to the total hiring price, but only if the skill is above 30 points. They are priced like this:

  • Combat & Mobility (OneHanded, Athletics, Bow, etc.): 3 coins;
  • Charisma (Charm, Roguery): 6 coins;
  • Specialist (Trade, Smithing, Engineering, Medicine and Scouting): 10 coins;
  • Lordship (Tactics, Leadership and Steward): 15 coins.

So if the potential companion has 100 TwoHanded skill, 300 coins are added to recruitment price.
Keep in mind his / her level and gear add up to the price too, and the wiki windown only shows the highest skills, not all of them.
Example 1: Specialist Fighter.

Example 2: Specialist Fighter & Scout.

Example 3: Decent Fighter & skilled Medic.

Example 4: Good Fighter & good Lord.

Works with other mods / savegames?

Except if the mod changes companion recruitment prices, it does. But I don't think any other mods change it.
Can be added / remove from savegames.
