The top rank should just be Looted, he who has looted more loot than any looter should have ever looted. They should just be a guy laying face first on the ground with a pile of s#*! on their back stretching into the heavens. If you incorporate this into the mod, give me credit. Don't incorporate this into the mod though, it's a terrible idea.
Since you're taking suggestions, I'd play around with the idea of flattening out the tree a bit, and instead making the different troops be side-grades of each other. For example: (Looter) ^ (Robber or Mugger) ^ ^ (*Skinner or Sniper) (*[Spear Bandit] or Basher) ^ ^ (*Deadeye or *[Crossbow Bandit]) (*Brute or *Marauder {Nomad}) * = end of line [] = Placeholder {} = Name Change
Bandits probably shouldn't be able to reach or surpass the heights of training, experience or equipment of regular soldiers, so it would make sense if their max tier was 4. However, they are ubiquitous, so it wouldn't be that weird if they had access to every different kind of troop. You could also integrate some of the changes that True Brigands makes into this mod, or work the other bandit types into the looter tree.
Hi, sorry for such late reply, been busy. I like the idea of side grading the tree some more, so ill probably play around with that. Also, I probably could nerf the tree a bit and cap them at tier 4 or so and make it an alt file for those who want more realism, because yeah, at the high tiers, these guys get a bit overpowered and its pretty unlikely that they get that experienced compared to a trained soldier. Ill keep the overpowered version for those who want it. Thanks for the suggestions!
I understand where you are coming from BUT there are many examples of Bandit Kings, modern warlords who started out as bandits, etc. Also, quite a few bandits were soldiers first and deserted or were defeated and used banditry as a guerilla war tactic(rebels). Too, sometimes bandits could be clandestinely supported by your powerful enemies. Fantastic mod either way. So I say keep an option, if possible, to let them fully develop to upper tiers.

Completely fails to overwrite default unit upgrade paths.
For example:
(Looter)
^
(Robber or Mugger)
^ ^
(*Skinner or Sniper) (*[Spear Bandit] or Basher)
^ ^
(*Deadeye or *[Crossbow Bandit]) (*Brute or *Marauder {Nomad})
* = end of line
[] = Placeholder
{} = Name Change
