Don't get hung up on a piece of cloth. Flags think and do no harm. This flag is part of american history. And if you want to use this flag in M&B II Bannerlord you should. A racism debate does not belong here, and certainly not on the shoulders of a flag. If you want to fight against racism, you have to do it where people are disadvantaged or persecuted because of their skin color.
It has far more as a part of American history meant to enslave one particular race and keep them treated as a lesser species than it does any positive notion of our history.
This flag was actually the official war flag of the Army of Northern Virginia, the main Confederate army from 1861 under the command of General Robert E. Lee. It was never the official national flag of the Confederate States. So a banner of a military unit for recognition.
True, but it's also the flag that was co-opted by the KKK and other white supremacists as a rallying symbol to fight against black people getting treated like actual human beings.
Also, Robert E. Lee thought the confederacy should die, and no lasting symbols of it should be made.
So if you think this is done to honor Robert E. Lee, you're going against his own wishes, and thus, not honoring him. And that means it's usually done by people who are racist.
What are you on about? Are you seriously getting upset over a battle flag? People died over that flag including my own family. Do not compare southern pride and heritage to racism and the dumb ass KKK. Also can you link me to any writings that Lee wrote saying he wanted to do away with Confederate symbols.

As for the flag. as its displayed today, it is neither the confederate flag or the Army of N Virginia, its based on the later, it was similar to designs rejected 3 times by the CSA and the flag that "Southern Pride" conservatives fly today is in fact a revival flag used by Strom Thurnmand and the Dixiecrats (a group of one and done segregationist southern democrats that seceded from the DNC in 1948) and later adopted in the 60s by Anti-Civil Rights white nationalists.
FYI The 3 CSA flags never looked like that. the first (Stars and Bars) was a variation on the US flag similar to the 13 Colonies flag, the other two the were the Stainless Banner, which did feature the crossed X and stars similar to the Battle flag of NV on a pure white field, it was rejected after they realized it was too close to the surrender flag and the Blood Stained Banner which was the second flag with a red field replacing half of the white fields.
Southern pride and heritage can be appreciated without worshipping the flag of a failed rebellion whose cornerstone was the right to own other humans. Think my word choice is wrong? Read the Cornerstone speech and take it up with the Vice President of the Confederacy.
Oh my god. You guys destroyed racism by complaining about optional free content that you voluntarily download! Holy s*** thanks white people for not doing any actual activism instead choosing to neg mod authors online! Now me and the rest of Black America will be free!
Black guy here. Dont let these people stifle you just so they can virtue signal and use black people as pawns for their cringe politics while they claim to care about black issues. Keep doing your thing.
Imagine putting in the effort to create a confederate 100 year old flag for a medieval video game -- especially considering that the flag represents division and racism. If its considered free speech, then no one should have an issue with a simple "why" question. Seriously curious if there was an actual demand for this?
Just a guess at, but the OP might be suggesting why of the multitude of flags this particular one would be chosen out of a limited selection knowing the current political climate in the USA. The OP Just asked Why. That's it , nothing more, perhaps thinking there might end up being a flame war because of it and detracting from the amazing work the creator does.Just a thought.

And now the criticism of this flag is over.

Your "Confederate Flag" was actually the flag used by a rogue group of racist democrats who did not agree with the main party's platform.
