This mod does nothing on its own apart adding basic custom shield to the imperial infantryman and the imperial horseman.
You need to use this mod alongside one of the preset (only two for the moment) and use the respective mod for which the preset is made.
This is customizable, you can add your shield design (check the article section on how to create one) or even create your own preset for the base game or your mod.
So does this mean if I find the correct Unit ID for existing units in the game (Sturgian Shock Troop for example) then I can give them each unique Banner ID's?
I mean this would be fucking fantastic if all troops in the game had their own Insignia (that was compatible with dynamic faction colours, of course.)
merci beaucoup je viens d’effectuer ce que vous venez de me poster en revanche est-ce qu'i faut recruter de nouvelles unité pour pouvoir profiter des bannières modifié car sur mes troupes je ne les voies pas . merci
It's been a while since I last played Mount & Balde, unfortunately since the end of the first lockdown, I had to work way much and I haven't had time to update any of my mod.
I hope to have time since we'll begin a third lockdown and I shoulda have a bit more free time.
I'll try my best for an update but I'll have to check all the change.

Great mod...unfortunately I cannot get it working.
I downloaded the BearMyShield file, put it in the module folder, downloaded the Late Roman Army preset...go into game and nothing. I just have my custom household shields. Is there something I'm missing? This is on the latest version of game (1.5.4 as of posting this.)

I downloaded BearMyShield, on vortex and then downloaded Late Roman Army Preset(less shields variety for nonelite troops) on vortex, loaded the mod,. is that all i have to do ? because i couldnt see the variations, do i need to readjust my self? i do have also the bear my banner mod
Unfortunately Bear My Banner and Bear My Shield aren't compatible yet, that's basically the same code running twice.
I'm working on it but I don''t have a lot of modding experience (about a month) nor prior codding knowledge.
You have to put the preset of Late Roman Army into the ModuleData of Bear My Shield, I don't use Vortex so maybe having the preset directly into Bear My Shield could be a better idea ?
Started comparing the two. I think bearmyshield is the better one. For the banner mod, you can only get one flag design per unit. For the shield mod, you can add a variety. And if you want the unit to have only one, you can just put in one shield design. I think the variety shield design is more historically accurate. I did notice that ai still use one banner design, but different shield designs. Perhaps it is possible to have all flags the same.
My mod is a bit more tedious since you have to put in place but you have a lot more varieties.
If there are no preset done, it could be a lot of work.
For the flags, I've moytly reduce the chance to have one appear when using my mod (something like 1 in 100).
One way to have flag will be to add it directly in the "spnpccharacters" as an item and put a modified flag (as a shield) in the "spitems", maybe 1 in 10 units.
The issue for me is that I'm a beginner in C# so I'm not that good in coding, I'm way more than happy that this mod is working ^^
Hey man, great work! I am really enjoying this mod :) Am i allowed to implement this into an upcoming mod of mine called "Ancient Empires". I want my untits to have variable shield paintings. And i think it would be easier to implement it instead of letting the user download another mod. Of course i would give credits to you.
Create a PolybianConfig file for your mod, once you're done I can publish it here as well !
This mod is basically a template since I haven't time yet to create one for vanilla, it's two preset for my mod (polybian) and Bullero mod (Late Roman Army).
sorry dude, im too stupid, im forgot to install polybian unit mod, and and after i installed it, now this mods works perfectly, i thought this mod for vanilla troops unit, but once again ur mod is awesome....

Here is an example:
<PolybianUnit>
<TroopId>imperial_infantryman</TroopId>
<BannerCodes>
<string>3.0.111.1536.1536.756.764.0.0.0</string>
<string>3.1.111.1536.1536.756.764.0.0.0</string>
<string>3.2.111.1536.1536.756.764.0.0.0</string>
<string>3.3.111.1536.1536.756.764.0.0.0</string>
<string>3.4.111.1536.1536.756.764.0.0.0</string>
</BannerCodes>
</PolybianUnit>
Between <TroopId></TroopId>, you put the id of the unit you want.
Between <string></string>, you put the banner code.
You can add as much shields as you want for each unit and do it for maybe 2, 3 units or the whole tree.
You decide
<PolybianUnit>
<TroopId>imperial_infantryman</TroopId>
<BannerCodes>
<string>3.0.111.1536.1536.756.764.0.0.0</string>
<string>3.1.111.1536.1536.756.764.0.0.0</string>
<string>3.2.111.1536.1536.756.764.0.0.0</string>
<string>3.3.111.1536.1536.756.764.0.0.0</string>
<string>3.4.111.1536.1536.756.764.0.0.0</string>
</BannerCodes>
</PolybianUnit>
https://www.nexusmods.com/mountandblade2bannerlord/mods/205
Si ça ne fonctionne toujours pas, envoie-moi ton fichier de configuration (PolybianConfig) et je jetterai un oeil.
Ty.

It should be a .7zip, install BearMyShield in Modules

More presets, the better :)
Or alone ?
Because I haven't yet create a preset for vanilla apart from two basics design for two imperial units.
It should be Bear My Shield before Polybian (Or Late Roman Army) in the launcher.
You can use "Fixed Launcher": https://www.nexusmods.com/mountandblade2bannerlord/mods/205
It'll order the mod correctly
- bannerlordtweaks(disabled)
- developconsole(disabled)
- bear my banner(disabled)
- bear my shield(enabled)
- modlib(disabled)
- fixedlauncher
I'm currently working on it ^^
