This is a summary of some of the differences between this (v4.57) and SoD Gold (v5.0).

This version uses the vanilla bandits and deserters, plus a few bands of "exiles" as in v5.0, while v5.0 uses ridiculous numbers of mixed-level (much stronger and larger) bandit parties.  Getting started here in v4.57 is easier, as you're not likely to be surrounded and dogpiled by 10-12 parties of 100+ bandits, many of them in each party at the same (or higher) level of difficulty as Sea Raiders, but later on it's harder to finance your own group and first castle without the massive mixed-level loot and captives from all those bandits.

Unfortunately, in both versions, your initial party and most companions start with gear that's mostly far better than what you'll be looting, so there's less of a sense of advancement.  This is a common problem in many mods, where everything is already overpowered, meaning that there's little room for further growth.  When everything is "epic", nothing is.

This version also makes numerous small-to-moderate changes to the vanilla map (relocating several towns and castles and raising the snowy part of Vaegir land to a higher elevation), where 5.0 returns to using the vanilla map.

I have yet to see if it also has the "University bug" like v5.0, where Universities INCREASE your notoriety each week instead of reducing it, turning the mid-game into "you against the world" as they all see you as "evil incarnate".  Overall, however, both versions are still worth playing.

Hey, the AI in this mod seems terrible, is it just me or are others finding this?

I'm talking only about battles. Every battle; all the AI ever does is form into a line and then walk off parallel to me until they are smashed into the edge of the map, all within range of my archers. By the time they kick into charging me, my archers have been picking them off for a full 5 minutes.

I took out a combined army of over 300 with about 60 villianese sharpshooters, it's making the game really boring.

If anyone could point me to the reason why that'd be great

I'm also having runtime errors. I can't save after a battle or I get a runtime error. So needless to say a game I can not save is pretty much broken to me. The only other things I notice before I gave up my marathon play through were some grammatical errors. Please tell me how to fix this, I know I installed it right so that is not the problem. This will be my favorite mod once I can play it!

This game is not for Warband. That's the problem, Templar and Proddity.
