I get the constant urge to rip my hair out trying to figure this out. In one YT tutorial, it said to copy and paste it to where my M&B is located (Steam > steamapps > common > Mount and Blade) so I did... only to get lambasted with errors and saying that the editor cannot find the path. It is very infuriating and it's a shame there isn't any YT vids about it aside from Michadr who got his copy from the Taleworlds website rather than Steam.
According to the person who wrote the article, Funkmachine, if you chance upon the error saying that it cannot find the path, you will need to "alter the settigns path. in C:\Program Files (x86)\M&BMapEditor;\editorData\settings.cfg You have to change the mbPath to point to your mount and blade (original, not warband) installation folder. e.g mbPath=C:/Program Files (x86)/Mount&Blade;"
I will keep you guys posted and see if that method works
Alright, I went into the settings and edited the thing to "# or type in the full path: eg "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Mount and Blade" but uuuuh... it didn't work. I do not know what I did wrong. All I want to do is have it find the correct path. This venture is seemingly more trouble than it is worth. I need a tutorial.
open a file called settings.open it with notepad.then on the ninth line, you will find the following line : mbPath=auto change auto to your M&B directory.for example, mine is like this: mbPath=E:/Game/Mount&Blade Warband then you can use it.

it's important that you read in the file because it says '# Don't include any spaces for now' and '# NOTE: if typing the full path, use / NOT \ as a separator' these are BOTH things that straight copy+pasting from file explorer on a steam install will f*#@ up. i got it to work by renaming my m&b directory and just replacing the backslashes
so someone made all the effort of making a map editor but won't tell us how it works?? I can't even see text in the editor.
changes won't get saved and everytime I try to save something it tells me something like "bla bla impassible blabla" and that's all...
and all I want to do is make a map of the area I live in... I know how to change everything but the map. or does that somehow work with the scene editor??
I downloaded the map editor, but I keep getting an error with a window texture, a runtime error, and it said it couldnt find the path???? Please help me! thanks
Put it into the same folder as mb_warband.exe or the MB equivalent. In with modules, data, the exe, etc. It might still give the error, but it will come up when it uses the local path.
