Changes to commenting

  • Comment
The commenting system on files and images in the database has been changed. You should no longer receive a pop-up form to fill-in but instead a form will become available on the same page for you to submit. Upon submitting your comments they should become visible without the need to refresh the page yourself.

In a similar vein the "Vote for this file" and "Track this file" links on all sites have now been ajax'ified and should now pop-up in their own little notification windows.

These changes were tested on IE, Fire Fox and Chrome in various resolutions. If you come across a problem first press Ctrl + F5 in your browser; this will refresh all the content on the page from scratch rather than using your browser cache. If the problem persists please provide feedback containing the problem and how to replicate it, what browser you're using, what version of the browser you are using and at what screen resolution you're running at.

Thanks.

a person I was walking through fixing an issue with a mod, he had done a thumbs down endorsement, after I walked him through the fix he tried several times to undo his thumbs down, and got the following error with IE 7. and Windows XP Pro

Fatal error: Call to undefined function siterrror() in /home/tes/public_html/downloads/rate.php on line 34

I had him download Google Chrome and he changed his endorsement in Chrome, so looks like there are still problems with Internet Exploder

The submit button does nothing when clicked. Using Opera 10.62 and Firefox (with NoScript and Greasemonkey) at 1024x768. It would be nice to have an accessibility or non-ajax mode in which key functions work across all browsers and platforms.

Posting through forum threads as a workaround.

(Edit: No troubleshooting needed here, I'll have Greasemonkey lend me a helping hand.)

In some cases it might be possible, but I don't see an easy way to make this happen everywhere, which is why I support the idea of letting the Administrator decide.

I think what he means is to extend it to other features on the sites as well, so that when you endorse a file, it won't open a new window either, but instead use this new feature, and also when commenting on articles and such.

    Great idea!
Can you extend this in all the features of TesNexus? (Endorse file, etc.)

Seems he already has - this thread is actually one shared across Tes-nexus, Fallout3-nexus, and Dragonage-nexus. So i assume the features are shared as well.

    @ Milo: No problem

Chrome has tons of features, security extensions & plugins.

Download the latest beta version and look what it has to offer. Chrome in a year or two will become the #1 browser.

    @streetstar5

Thank you for the suggestion, i now use Chrome for TesNexus, Firefox for browsing the internet, and still use IE for some of my sites because it works better for me.

Only bad thing about Chrome, is it does not incorporate my security software (that is probably one of the things that makes it so fast), so I use IE for downloading because I like the way IE handles downloads and has all my security software in it, Firefox for searching the internet
